Housemate has been helping out more this week. She cooked dinner Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Mostly because I wasn't feeling great but its all progress and when it's an easy meal I'm going to maybe suggest she do it. We've been doing the washing up together so one washes and one dries so that's a good sign as well. Still no progress on kitchen and bathroom cleaning but she is now cleaning the living room twice a week after the bunnies now they are sharing a pen and litter tray. Gonna see how long these changes last before start mentioning more cleaning. If she pulls her weight in terms of cooking and clearing up I can live with the bit of cleaning at weekend. Might suggest that I clean bathroom and we do kitchen together at weekends when we do tidying up. Think that might be a good compromise for now.
In terms of money front, budget is going well for this month. But started getting toothache last night so think a trip to dentist might be needed next week when I'm off. I don't have a fund for this or opticians (although I claim this back from work) so I think that might have to be my next category on ynab.
I sold my coffee machine that I never used and have even using the cash to pay for food shopping and transferring it into my savings account so that's my if forgot something account. It also has my birthday money in it. Think this might have to to towards the dentist cost and then just repay myself the birthday money.
Need to reign the takeaways in though as been having one every weekend for last 3 weekends and housemate wants another one this weekend. I do have the spends for it but feels like such a waste of my money. I want to go back to at least every other week but ideally once a month. Its good to know that I can still lose weight and have a takeaway though its a good sign for future that I won't have to miss out just have to be sensible.
I too struggle with the takeaways. Am basically down to one a week now but it’s the same issue, bubble friends fancy one and feel tight saying no ha. But once a week isn’t too bad given the circumstances. If you can cut it back more then great.
Annoyingly though, actually discovered a very good Chinese 5 minutes walk away that is cheap and wasn’t at all greasy! Been searching for a good Chinese in London for years ha. They don’t deliver but that is probably a good thing...the fact it’s so close and cheap means delivery is seriously bad value (double the price for worse food) but at the same time, the fact I have to leave the flat means I’ll only go when it’s planned ha.
The lesson for me is that a good takeaway is a worthwhile treat, eating it for the sake of it is a waste.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7300

Asda also cook the pizzas a for you, for about £1 or so extra, I think it’s the commercial oven they are cooked in that makes the difference.1

I like the asda deli pizza maybe I need to get a few of those for the freezer instead. More expensive than the cheap frozen ones but alot cheaper than a takeaway version.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7300

I agree, a takeaway is more about the not cooking for me too. Having stuff in the freezer is a good idea."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney1

How are you getting on Sarah? I’d a bit of an unplanned snack attack tonight so I’m a bit annoyed with myself. I’m finding the thought of coming out of lockdown in the summer a big motivator!1

Good news re the denim jacket, hope the tooth calms down soon.1

Well done on the weight loss, hope your tooth gets better soon.
Is your house mate staying for much longer, I can't remember what the term of her lodging was. Glad she's helping you out more
I always find the pizza express pizzas a good compromise, they taste like the ones you get from the restaurant and are usually on offer somewhere, so pretty reasonable price wiseDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Originally the plan was for about a year, we're now 18 months in haha. I think its going to be a while yet tbh. Probably whenever she meets someone and wants to move in with them. I think once we can start doing stuff other than walking at weekends it will be easier for us both.
I haven't tried the pizza express ones from supermarket will give them a try.*Dad loan - £5300 - £7300

Feb is gone and March is here. Managed to have some money left over in my food spends allowance so have transferred it into my saver where all my odds and ends go at the moment. It's currently got £100 in it. Just got my cashback confirmed so another £21 to come to my PayPal. Still waiting for my refund from closed credit card to arrive in my account said can take up to 12 weeks at the moment because they have so many requests due to covid.
Also has confirmation that I will be getting my £96 back I paid to fix my sofa as well. It should give me a good buffer in there then. I did think about paying it off the card but it's still 0% until Jan 2022 and after this months payment will only have £750 left on it. My plan is to clear it in June. I'll also have a pretty good sinking Fund by then so will be able to focus on building the emergency fund up and making overpayments on mortgage. Ideally I want to overpay £1k by December to bring me below 100k.
Back to dentist tomorrow for part 1 of my root canal. All paid for though from last months spends.
Weight loss has slowed down a bit but still going down. Starting to exercise more, lots more walking and started a sit up and squat challenge for March. Doing them every evening. The plan is to get to 100 of each. Yesterday I managed 29 sit ups and 50 squats. Today I managed 38 sit ups and 100 squats. Legs feel like jelly but it's good progress. Hoping the sit ups will keep improving and my back will allow me to do more. Love to be at 100 by end of March.
