  • hi guys, quick update.

contacting the CEO & store manager didn't go so well. they have rejected my complaint and basically said it was my own fault. can someone advise what my next steps are?

"Thank you for your email and for providing a copy of the parking fine.

As the fine was correctly issued to you for over staying the maximum time allowance, I am sorry to advise on this occasion I am unable to over turn this fine.

Please note the car park at our Longbridge store is monitored by Euro Car Parks. A maximum stay of 3 hours is provided to our customers as this is adequate time for shopping to be completed and for the facilities to be used. This also stops members of the public from misusing our car park.

Whilst I appreciate this is not the outcome you were hopeful of, I trust this clarifies Sainsbury's position on the matter. Should you wish to appeal the fine, I would suggest contacting Euro Car Parks directly. "

  • just out of curiosity how would I do this?

As long as you understand that Sainsbury's are telling to F off and go and shop elsewhere. And that you must do and tell your friends to do the same.

Sainsbury's are NOT the bees knees when it comes to supermarkets

Suggest you tell the CEO, as he prefers scammers to customers which is a very unhealthy business practice

You do know that the CEO is leaving sainsbury's, resigned or pushed out we will never know. This then leaves the new CEO to pick up the pieces of falling sales (bad at xmas) and sack the parking scammer

Dear CEO/Customer Services Manager/Store Manager (or anybody who cares really!)
I am afraid that neither I, nor my family and friends can afford to shop at Sainsbury's any more if every shopping bill comes with a surcharge of £*. Your disingenuous letter telling me that 3 hours is long enough to carry out my shopping task at your store does not take account of the circumstances of the day and you may like to know that ** happened. Be that as it may, it won't be happening again as my custom and loyalty have switched to ***.

    * Add in the amount of the PCN
** Add in the mitigating circumstances that caused you to take longer then the meagre 3 hours they allow you.
*** Add in the name of any local caring, "we really want your custom" supermarket.

The fact is that Sainsbury's cannot have their cake and eat it

Parking scammer or loyal customer, it's not a hard choice

… or Tesco or Lidl or Aldi or Morrisons...…….. But yes, POPLA if you received a code with your appeal rejection.

    NO.

Your next stage is escalating the complaint, that's why Le_Kirk wrote it...

  • I have already escalated the complaint with Sainsburys via a few emails, but they have refused each time.

Escalate it again. Firmer, more militant, more detail re. mitigating circumstances, money spent on day / approximation of weekly or monthly spend going back as long as possible / all the stuff in Le_Kirk's example plus more if possible - but keep it well structured & clear. And basically polite.

If the facts are that genuine customers needed the time taken to do their shop and get out of that car park, the CEO needs to wake up and may do so if given yet another nudge.

    Perseverance is key.
