• hi I received the POPLA verification code in the appeal rejection letter which was sent VIA email

I have emailed the CEO and used some lovelly wording including, depression, appalled, disappointed and my favourite disgusted :)

in regards to the manager of the store I tried phoning but apparently their phones go on a massive loop and do not put you through to a real person, so I will have to go in on my way home from work.
• this also occurred at the Sainsburys in Longbridge - address is below
Longbridge Lane, Birmingham B31 2TW

Now you are doing he correct things

Definitely complain to the local store manager if possible , proof of patronage also helps

If he won't help , dob him or her in to Mike Coupe , mention you have emailed the CEO , that might help

Leave popla to the last resort

It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil , plus complaining about being treated this way might get the sc@mmers booted out or curbed

Only go in if you have the PCN number for them to cancel. Do not accept the fob off that there is nothing they can do, unless it is a retail park not owned by Sainsburys, in which case ask for the Managing Agents or retail park contact details and go after them.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Never do anything by 'phone.

Take your Nectar card/car statement/receipts/redacted credit/debit card statements to prove the keeper is a genuine regular customer, and look how much *Morrison's* are set to gain if this isn't cancelled.

*Other scammer free supermarkets are available*

• ok thank you for the advice, I will let you know how I get on and If I get a response. a £70 fine is pathetic for being in a car park 15-30min over the allocated time. this doesn't take into consideration traffic while leaving the retail park.

So perhaps the allocated time needs altering , because it was arbitrarily set by some moron ?

So if it's set at 2 hours , then 3 hours or 4 hours is reasonable but also refers workers who park all day , win win

Our local Morrison is set at 3 hours for Ecp

Our local Asda has no allocated time

The ones that have 90 minutes are ridiculous

Tell the Manager the time is not fit for purpose at busy times (pre-Christmas?)

a £70 fine is pathetic for being in a car park 15-30mi ]]

It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex-clamper to compensate them for the alleged harm they suffered when you did what you did. We call it a scam. Pay them not a penny unless a judge so orders it.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

Double check with the council what the original parking restrictions were when planning permission was approved for the store and car park.
It is not unknown for parking scammers to arbitrarily reduce the parking time outwith the original planning times. If that has happened then let the store manager and CEO know, as well as complaining to the council that changes have been made in breach of the original planning approval.

Also check that planning approval exists for ANPR scameras if used, and that advertising consent has been granted for the signs. Not having the latter is a criminal offence.
