as for toddler food, I am waaaayyyy past that stage and waiting for GS to start it (1 next week), don’t stress yourself, my eldest ate nothing but banana, cucumber, tinned hot dogs (don’t judge it was his choice 🤣), plain pasta and petite filous and milk for 6 months, I was out of my mind with worry, went to health visitor who pointed out he was eating fruit, veg, protein, carbs and calcium, his diet was fine 😉 he soon started to notice he wasn’t getting what the rest of us were eating, and then wanted that - he is now 26, 6 foot 7” and eats for England ....6 -
Nellbell21 my nephew grew up on pickles and hard boiled eggs. I'm afraid our DS was told he could eat it or leave it with no alternative. His friend was accommodated by his mother and used it to control her for years. When he came here I said there is one rule - you try everything once, more if you like it. He eat and enjoyed everything but I was sworn to secrecy to say nothing to his Mum!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Checking in with the 2nd part of my grocery shop for £21.40. I still need to buy milk and some chicken thighs from Mr S. And there is a quick meal to be purchased - the pizza's weren't in stock sadly. Total weeks spend is just under £50 - which brings weekly average to £55/week at the moment.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

From 750g mince I have made 4 portions chilli
and 5 portions lasagne. Big portions as hubby 6ft5 and greedy! Gave kids macaroni using the bechamel I made for the lasagne. Stuck some cauliflower in macaroni as it needed eating. Daughter loved it but 3year old predictably ate around the cauliflower! He loves broccoli so thought I would get away with cauliflower. However two portions of macaroni left as well. I have also spent less than I thought as ynab had attributed a fuel spend to shopping. Hubby is away for two nights with work so I should hopefully come in at budget. £572 spent and £227 left. However I have enough meals in (apart from needing some chicken) so fingers crossed. X9 -
I'm ridiculously late in posting this month - work is very busy so not getting online much!
Can I stick at €400 please?
I'll do an update to my sig later once I've done some sums off all my receipts.
We've builders in at the moment and it's creating a bit of chaos. We've been hoping to get this lined up for a year, but now that it's happening, it all seems very last minute. Big incentives to clear the presses, fridge and freezer completely now, so that we've less faffing about when we've to move the contents. Also to spend really cleverly so that we can eat well off a lower budget for the next few months!6 -
Hi folks, I haven't kept up with checking in here this month and my food spends have started to backside into bad habits. I have a week to go until my new month starts and have about £15 left. By being careful this should do us without going over budget. I had a chat with OH and I am going to increase the food budget to £150 for next month again to allow a bit more wiggle room.
OH is home today so he is making Chilli for tonight's dinner - this will do us over two days and give us a couple of portions for the freezer. OH is night-shift and leaves at 4.45pm for work so it's always a mad dash to get home sharp so we can eat dinner together. Lunches for us both this week will be kept simple with cheese/tuna/ham sandwiches.

Re: messing up in February. I did a big shop at the beginning of the month (well January 30th tbh) which got up to £75 as I kept putting in things which I thought would be useful. I thought if I bought quite a few basics I wouldn't need much else. But there always seems to be something else!
Now I've got about £45 left til the end of the month and I might be able to do it. But I still have a bit of money in my main 'everything else' budget this month...not much has happened (famous last words) so I keep thinking it won't matter too much if I go over as I can 'borrow' a bit. I've also failed to plan as I just can't settle down to it. I know, pathetic excuse!
So this is how my resolve has gone a bit AWOL this month but there is still hope, so here goes...August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.8
