fairy3 said:Hi all - just to report spends of £26.32 mainly in Morri's and Cwarp - good bargains and basics bought, nothing exotic.
Mrs_Cheshire - I tend to use a 750g pack for around 8 meals and couple of lunches (big sports appetites) and bulk out with grated carrots and extra veg as stated but also have used a couple of Tbsp stuffing mix - no one has ever commented and it stretches the meat.
Just getting used to the new format - finding it a bit different and hate the blue.......
I'm not liking the new format, multiple quotes doesn't work as it try to put the 2 separate quotes together in one box. Hopefully the team can make some changes to make it more user friendly!Grocery Challenge 2024

I add grated carrots sometimes but the main bulking agent is aubergine pulp, which is pretty indistinguishable in the sauce. (Cut the end off of the aubergine, stab it 2-3 times and microwave for 10 minutes, then cut in half, scrape out the innards and chop. Careful, it's hot!). I'll also add a beef stock cube to bulk up the flavour.

Well, I'm not going to regret spending so much on that meal, now; seems I need to go & invest in some bubbly now as A Question has been Popped in romantic Vienna and a positive reply received! Celebrations are most definitely in order; she's a lovely lass & we're thrilled to welcome her into The Firm!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)11

Today's shop set me back £4.01 - got some milk (80p), apples (50p), pears (59p) and sweet potatoes and parsnips (£2.12) to make another soup. As last week, the scales still don't work so I was stood in the veg aisle for a while trying to work out exactly how much everything weighed relative to a bag of apples.
I did, however, spend about 5 minutes painstakingly feeding pennies into the self-checkout machine at asda which got me a few funny looks. I thought it was probably about time to spend all the small change I've accumulated over the last year though!Grocery Challenge

This is over the last few days as I buy different things in different places. My challenge to only buy reduced or on offer meat/fish was a success. My husband bought us a tray of chicken and minced beef but apart from that everything else was either on offer or reduced so I’m going to carry this on for February. Today I got a packet of sausages and a whole chicken (a rare find) at 30% off.

yesterday and today. Lidl has baby bel on offer that was too good to refuse and so I spent €6 on those alone
I am still struggling with this layout and colours

Thanks for the tip re. stuffing - my DH loves stuffing so it might work for us. I always put a cup of oats into my chilli - you really can't tell its in there once its cooked. I tried lentils one but we could also feel the texture and it didn't quite work for us in the chilli. Probably good in shepherds pies etc. but I like the stuffing idea, and we love lentil dahl as a main curry meal so would probably go for that instead - its so easy (lentils, water, spices).OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10
