  • HITS - one thing that you do need to be careful off, similar to a diet!! that going like it like a bull in a china shop (IYKWIM) can very often lead to failure. Remember denying yourself some pleasure will lead you to thinking so9 it and can lead to a spending spreee.

Within your budget, budget for some pleasure buying but just not too much

  • yeah i know your right but really motivated to get rid of this millstone round my neck, i earn a good wage and it would be nice to enjoy spending all of it ( within a budget of course!!!! )

  • Quidco is definitely worth it! I have had over £500 through them. There is a thread around somewhere about how to make money from it .... maybe on the 'up your income' board. Topcashback is another one worthwhile joining. I also use pigsback (www.pigsback.com) and save my piggy points for vouchers (just had one for top shop) which are good for birthdays and Christmas. Yougov is a good one for surveys. I don't tend to do many other survey sites but yougov is ok.

  • Just recieved info pack for my degree, £730!!! for first module and i can only claim back £175 once the module is complete!!!

Apparently i have to wait until april for the 80% costs to be paid, true to form i have to pay before april so can't take advantage of 80% until next module! having said that next module is £1800!!!! so probably better in the long run.

Hopefully it will all pay off in the end! 5 years is a long time though.

just been and done the "big shop" at asda came to £109! ( usually £85 ) My own fault i didn't have time to get home to check cupboards and double bought some house hold products and stuff i already had in freezer! DOH!

Also sneaked in a bottle of baileys to put a smile on gf's face and put me in her good books for the weekend!

I've drawn out £50 to last me until 21st dec when i go on holiday, £2.38 a day!!!!!

On the plus side going away with work so can claim £134.75 in expenses!!! just got to make the £50 last

  • Hey everybody

A little update, I've been away with work for a few weeks so not too bad with reguards to money saving, but in that two weeks my beautiful girlfiend discovered she is pregnant!!!! Great news but not great news for my debt free dreams!

So i've decided that this all needs some real concideration, we still haven't sold the house, i'm due to move away in jan, so i will be spending a fortune on travelling costs for weekend visits. Until she can move up hopefully not too long!

Also going away for christmas and then got my girls for new year so a very expensive holiday season. With that in mind i am going to start my extreme money saving and budgeting on the 7th of jan when i start work. Until then I'm going to keep a watchful eye on my finances but enjoy my festive season and look forward to a couple of festive seasons on a budget!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the brightside the pregnancy will help me presuade my better half to save money!!

I'm hoping to be able to live on a zero spend budget while I'm at work, so my weekly spends will be limited to my weekend trips home around £90ish on fuel and whatever after that.

  • also just signed up for my degree course, cost £750! but i can claim back around £175

So 4 years of hard graft and i should be debt free and in a job that pays well enough to budget for a better life rather than using borrowed money!
