Thanks missspendalot your mega!
I looked into all that when i was trying to divorce, i'm going to try to drop it by £50 when i move in the next couple of weeks as i will be only about an hour away from them for the next couple of years, so petrol bill will half! If i'm realistic csa is probably the best route to pay less but my heart won't let me so maybe a slight reduction is the best to hope for.
I've just been shopping around for insurance for work as my policy has just ended an i have managed to get 3 x the cover for £4.79 less!!! I wonder if that will change my DFD????????DEBT AT LBM £32595.60!!!DEBT 26/3/08:£28532.25

The CSA can cause a whole load of grief that could open up a big can of worms so I would steer clear of them if possible. BUT it is useful to have their figure as a guideline to what a reasonable amount of maintenance is compared to an income. I know a lot of people who use the CSA figure as their amount but keep it a voluntary arrangement to save the hassle and inconvenience of the CSA.
Keep up the good work and remember that it is not the amount of money that you pay for your girls each month but the quality time you spend with them that countsOlympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

Have you had a look at the snowball calculator mentioned above. It will show you the best way to pay off your debts. Also make sure the money you are now diverting to your debt (the £100) is coming off one where you can overpay.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

HI and welcome Headinthesand
Is your credit rating OK? If so, you could apply for new CCs with a low life of balance interest rate and transfer the balance from your existing CCS.
Good luck with it, it sounds as if you have the right attitude to get it sorted long before 2012.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Okay - please dont kill me!!!!
I agree that paying £450 is a huge sum, however, being a mother whose ex husband started at £250 during the divorce to £150 when he got together with his then g/f to £110 when he got into financial difficulties, I can tell you it is extremely hard to deal with. I was single parent at the time, though remarried now, he has managed to get through his financial difficulties by reducing his payemnts to me and it hurts. I am not for one minute suggesting that is what you intend or are proposing on doing, but remember your ex OH will (hopefully) budgeted for this money and it could become a bit of a shock!!
On that note I think £5 a day would be a reasonable sum to pay. I worked out literally half the costs of the girls (my two) and it worked out at about £10 a day!! However when this was proposed to their father - he just stated he would not pay and to go through the CSA!!! and if I did he would disappear! THough I very much dbout this is your attitude.

hey saffron
don't worry i won't kill you!! I agree with you totally thats why the last thing i will do is reduce the £450 as at the moment things are tight but managable, I'm at present budgeting to allow for this to rise by £50 in the next august.
also just signed up with open university to do a professional degree which with alot of effort and motivation ( something i have in spades ) will lead to a very healthy bank balance in around 5 years!!!!!!!!! not least because my debts will be gone by then, so hope to double maintance by then!

before you very sharpe money savers ask how can someone in this amount of debt afford to do an OU degree its because my job pays around 75% of all costs so whole degree over 5 years will cost £2200 instead of £8800!! saving £6600!!!!
but in my region i could stand to earn upwards of £65000 once qualified!
fingers crossed!!!!!!!! long road aheadDEBT AT LBM £32595.60!!!DEBT 26/3/08:£28532.25
