WARNING WARNING WARNING
HITS - CUT UP THE NATWEST CREDIT CARD NOW!!!!!!! Do not keep it for emergencies, if you read your first post you will see that is how you managed to get into debt in the first place, the occasional spend here the occasional spend there! I can see you racking it up very quickly.
Right lecture over many congratulations on your great news, and remember having a baby does not have to be expensive. You can be DFW with a baby!

Point taken ref the natwest card!!
I've just got back from toys r us, £145!! £5 under budget!!!! but forgot to buy a couple of presents so budget blown!!!! Damit children are so hard to buy for and very expensive!!! Although £145 bought 4.5 childrens presents I think i will need to spend prob another £50 all up including wrapping paper etc.
Oh well it is christmas I guess and i won't be drinking so that will save money over christmas and new year! Due to gf not drinking, all in all not too bad.DEBT AT LBM £32595.60!!!DEBT 26/3/08:£28532.25

Hello,
Well done for getting to grips with it - advice and support from others always helps. I know you said that you had tried writing things down and it just didn't work for you, but I really have to stress how good it is to do it. It helped me to get a grip and to get out of debt, but it is also a tried and tested way to diet - it is too easy to accidentally forget little bits here and there - the odd few pounds here and there that add up, just the same as the odd few biscuits here and there if you're dieting! I've tried and tested this approach this year on a few friends - once that could never lose weight and they are both approaching size 12's and very happy!
Write it down - if it was your business you would, so why not approach your own personal business like that.
Good luck! (oh and excellent comment about kids need quality time not expensive gifts - they just want to see you!)0 -
I know this whole writing things down thing works for some people but it really doesn't suit me, i don't waste money anymore, all purchases are thought about no matter how little, I'm really getting good at it
I also mark off every "no spend day" on my calender, i hope one day to achieve a whole month, imagine that!! what a boring month!!!!!DEBT AT LBM £32595.60!!!DEBT 26/3/08:£28532.25

Great idea LP!!
I've got my girls for the first week of jan so jan is impossible for me!!!
How about Feb? plus its only 29 days!!!!
Very simple rules: All rent/ mortgage/ bills / debts/ food get paid just no needless spending a day without any needless spending counts as no spending day!
the one with the most days wins!!! easy plus if i managed it I would save £400!!!
Any better ideas?DEBT AT LBM £32595.60!!!DEBT 26/3/08:£28532.25

Hi HITS...
Hmm, I can't do Feb as I'm going on a massive trip for a month then...
Okay, how about I do 29 days from 2nd January... would take me to 30th January.
Then it's your go in February!?!
I'll tell you exactly how much I've needlessly spent over the budget in Jan, and then it's your challenge to beat me...?
Game on?
