I cant go back to the car boot because its hundreds of miles with no guarantee the seller would be there.
Well it's your only hope. It's not Apple's fault, it's yours (and maybe the sellers).Someone died in a road traffic accident and the person killed had all their family photos on their iphone and they couldn't be retrieved due to it being activation locked by the person that died
Take something from this. Back up anything that's precious. Do not carry it all round in a tiny device that you could lose it in, literally, in a drop.0 -

If I die, I definitely don’t want my family going through my phone, and especially not my photos! The ones that are for “sharing because of sentimental reasons” have already been shared;)

But I just read a story online thats enough to make you cry. Someone died in a road traffic accident and the person killed had all their family photos on their iphone and they couldn't be retrieved due to it being activation locked by the person that died, but the family were desperate to retrieve the photos but couldn't.
Nope. Try harder with the tugging at the old heartstrings next time.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -

I feel stupid because they showed it to me all working, then powered it down to put it back in the box and I payed the money and that was that.
So it might be just a case of they forgot to remove the activation lock or deactivate it? Because they seemed genuine and I fail to see what they have to gain by ripping me off, unless it wasent their phone at all, I dont know.
There must be a way to disassociate the phone to the original owner, otherwise this is an over the top protection thing from Apple. Surely thousands of buyers fall into this trap?Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0 -

Not worthless but definitely worth a lot less than allegedly paid by the OP.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -
The OP clearly doesn't like the responses here, so they created a new thread in the "Techie Stuff" forum:

Getting pretty much the same response.0 -

All of which leads to the conclusion that they stumbled into it blindly (their own fault) and now want divine intervention to change the facts of life.0 -
