I'd move the night feed to a later time, right now she's having more than 12 hours from her last feed to the time you are up to let her out so if she needs to go early hours of the morning she has no choice but to go indoors. We feed ours their second meal at around 9-10pm and we are up at 6am for work so even then they are having to wait 8-9 hours, we get an accident maybe once or twice a year.

Going to try this today and move feed until later. It's a long time from morning feed to evening though but worth a shot. Will try 8pm to start with.

How many poos a day is she doing?

Is it possible you are feeding her too much?

We are already at the low end of the amount on the pack. Could try a bit less. She does seem to produce alot - 4 a day?

Maybe look at changing her food, if she's going 4 times a day then her body isn't absorbing much from the food and all the fillers are just passing through her. My raw fed dogs only go once a day and even before I switched them to raw it would only be once or twice a day, I always found on commercial food that my dogs put on too much weight even on the lowest recommended amounts despite being very active, always judge feeding quantities by body condition rather than what they say on the packaging.

Thanks. We'll have a think about that. Going to try feeding a bit less first and see how that goes. We use a food called Heights Farm which is sold at our farmers market and think she likes it.

The feeding guidelines are just that a guideline. Some dogs will need much less than recommended and others much more.

What is her weight like compared to  what she should be?

Going poos four times a day is a lot for any dog.

I suspect she is being fed too much and feeding less will stop the overnight poo.

Her weight is 6.2 kg. Vet says she is perfect but that seems near top end when I've searched online. She is 1yr 5m old female. She looks very well and not overweight by any means. However I am going to reduce her food a bit and feed her later at night.

Advanced search couldn't or wouldn't find it!!

Basically 12 oz? rolled oats,4oz any flour, 2 tins mashed up sardines, oil from tin + extra oil, I clove garlic peeled & chopped,1 egg, water or milk to mix.
Mix together, you should have a very stiff 'dough', can add water to soften slightly.
Press into lined swiss roll tin with floured fingers - or similar shaped tin
    Mark into fingers
Bake in mod oven- gas 5 approx until golden- 20-25 mins.
    Turnover.
Turn heat right down, cook another ? hour?

I just guess when I make it, hence the ? !!
My concern with this would be the garlic. Bigger dogs can probably tolerate small amounts but it is toxic in larger doses. I would tend to steer clear of it to be on the safe side (especially if I hadn't used it with this dog before).

OP, do you think the extra veggies are causing more poo?
    It's not difficult!

This wasn't my recipe. I have tried cutting down her food a bit and feeding at 7am and 8pm. This seems to be working but it's early days yet. Had 2 successful mornings. My alarm goes off at 6.35am and she has then been going in the garden. Fingers crossed we might have turned a corner. Planning on slowly moving time of alarm forward to about 7am when husband gets up for work, then he can deal with her   :)
