I tried the raw carrot. She really enjoyed that. Bit wingey atm as im trying to get her to 5pm for her tea. She definitely knows she'd had no lunch. Do you mix the veg with her food or give them as snacks.
  • Have you tried getting up at 5 to see if she’s pooed yet? If she’s actually going between 5 and 6 maybe she just can’t hang on that extra hour.

I generally serve the veg in with food- sometimes the veg part gets pulled out first!

I might just give the following as a snack/treat:
Carrot 1/2 or1/4 lengthways, cauliflower ribs of the leaves, possibly sliced broccoli stalks.
I don't like parsnips- but dog may well- raw or cooked

One day I forgot to put the shopping away as soon as I got home- result a very munched up cauliflower!!(released from it's bag too!)

Yes could try that. I’m hoping this change of feeding times might work.

For anyone who's following this - I've changed to 2 meals a day 7am and 5pm. So far that is working well. I have been getting up at 5.30 so its not really solved my problem but she hasn't done poo in kitchen for 2 nights. I am going to gradually move time forward, but we have been here before.
Also I have an afternoon of whining for food. Tried the raw carrot and a treat mid afternoon.

Something else you might try as a treat is homemade sardine flapjack!

I posted the recipe on here ages ago- will see if I can find it. The thing is you can bake it really slowly so that it goes very crunchy and can be stored out of fridge. A 'finger' of that might keep the wingeing at bay!

Advanced search couldn't or wouldn't find it!!

Basically 12 oz? rolled oats,4oz any flour, 2 tins mashed up sardines, oil from tin + extra oil, I clove garlic peeled & chopped,1 egg, water or milk to mix.
Mix together, you should have a very stiff 'dough', can add water to soften slightly.
Press into lined swiss roll tin with floured fingers - or similar shaped tin
    Mark into fingers
Bake in mod oven- gas 5 approx until golden- 20-25 mins.
    Turnover.
Turn heat right down, cook another ? hour?

I just guess when I make it, hence the ? !!

We have had to start feeding our dog Sydney four times a day in smaller meals. It seems to be working well for him.

He wasn't going to the toilet in the night but he was waking us up at 5am with the hunger pukes on a regular basis when we were feeding him twice a day.

He now has breakfast at 6.30am, dinner at 12.30pm, tea at 7.00pm and then a bit of supper at 10.00pm. This seems to be working a treat for him and he is looking great for it. He has the same amount of food just split over four meals instead of two.

It also means he is never really starving hungry, so he doesn't beg for extras during the day and as such he has lost a bit of weight with it as well. He is now at what the vet reckons is his ideal weight.

He does still get treats. We give him red or yellow bell pepper, carrot, brocolli, cauliflower, small pieces of cheese occasionally, green beans, etc.

Is she bored? Try doing some trick training with her or take her for a walk in the afternoon.

Thank you for all these tips I have tried many of them. She has settled into her routine of 2 meals at 7 am and 5.30 pm. I've adjusted quantities so she has 70g in morning and 50g at night. Still finding timing problem in morning. If i get it wrong she has a poo in kitchen. I get up at 6.30am sometimes earlier. I feel like adjusting evening feed would help but don't know whether to move it forward or back. She does have an evening walk and usually does a poo then as well.
