Hello,
I am from Birmingham and coming up to the end of my contract with my current provider and i don't want to carry on getting WiFi with them due to the price increases. So i have been browsing and come across the BT Superfast Fibre was wondering what people thought, this will be the first time i have been with this provider? Any advice will be highly appreciated!
Thank you,
Georgey6281

The current provider is EE but the cost from last time has gone up quite a lot, i know EE and BT are more or less the same, so should i expect good connections from BT? because i have had good speeds etc. of EE?0

Hi. I've had this service for 1 week. It all seems OK internet, catch up TV etc, all working well. There are lots of good deals on line at BT or through Broadband Genie, e.g. £28pm + £80 voucher from BT.
I chose one of these deals through MSE/Broadband Genie/BT website for £28pm and got my first bill today for £44. I have spent 1:25mins on phone to BT and after contacting Billing who put me through to Value section who put me through to Billing who put me back to Value, the best they can come up with is cancel my current contract and start a new one. I lose my 'rewards', I have to send the 1 week old router back and receive a new one and pay £9.99 connection fee. So my conclusion is the automated sign up and connection works well, the Broadband is good at 47Mbps, but BT is a lousy organisation and has not improved over the years so watch and record every step you take with them.

Just to add that I have been with BT for many years (and have set up another thread, as I'm thinking of leaving).
The service has been good and reliable, but you have to be aware that their prices rise very steeply once any offer contract has finished.
People have said it's worth haggling with them when your contract ends, so it depends on whether or not you want to keep doing this. There are some other companies that don't seem to keep putting up their prices.0 -

In my experience all you need do is to contact BT just before your contract expires. Every time I have done this they have renewed the contract at much the same price, though last time they pesuaded me to change to a Halo branded contract by offering a slightly reduced price to what I had being paying previously.0 -

I had exactly the same issue not sure who's at fault here Broadband Genie, BT or Moneysaving Expert for listing these deals as theres nothing but problems with them. They handled me differently in that they said they'd look into it and get the price reduced, after umpteen calls and nearly 2 weeks later I just had a phone call saying the price had been reduced to £28.99 and they'd refund the difference on the bill they already charged me. No mention of any reward vouchers or card etc so thats not happening. Not sure why they treated you differently maybe they decided they can't be bothered dealing with all the calls and are simply cancelling contracts now.
Buyers beware, not that MSE seems to care a jot I guess they still get their referral fee.Blessed are the geeks, for they shall inherit the Internet.0 -
I recently moved over to bt, superfast broadband and all in the offer came to around £33 with 500 minutes talk time. My only bit of advice is check the email with your future bill advice. I checked mine and found they hadn't processed the discounts I signed up to. I have to say the chap at their call centre was very polite, apologetic and helpful and got it sorted quickly... But, rather interestingly my girlfriend had just signed up to a new deal with them and after my cautionary tale she went and checked her bill and found that they had done the same to her. So, I do love the benefits of being with bt, such the WiFi network that you can access on your mobile with the app and generally I am happy with the broadband service... Just watch out for their dodgy billing!0
