New car needs a new gearbox - can I reject it?
Bought a 2016 Mondeo auto on 5 Jan with 65k miles.
Twice it has broken down with a transmission error displayed in the dashboard. Switch it off and then on and the car has worked fine.
Just had a diagnostic check done with Ford and they are telling me that it requires a new gearbox.
So my question is can I reject the car?
What is the best way of going about this?

Take it back to the supplying dealer - ask them do they want their 1 chance to fix it for free, or reject and full refund.

Push for a replacement new gearbox - and a courtesy car and free servicing for a year as well.
You are within your rights to reject as a gearbox is a pretty major fail so soon after buying. They will have to fix it anyway if they want to sell it to someone else.0 -

If you bought it privately, no.

If they don't agree, then you need to leave the car with them, and issue a letter before action, then a court claim for the money. More than £10k means it's not a small claim, though, so it's a bit more involved and expensive than if it was. If you PXd a car, you won't necessarily get that back, just the value of it.
Is there finance, or did you pay with a credit card?

Spoken to the customer care manager who needs to speak to owner and they will call me tomorrow to let me know what they will do.0

My advice is dump it, it will be more trouble than it is worth.0
