Non Paying Silly Season Started??

I am not sure if it is just me. After having a very quiet 6 weeks or so with sales, I thought things were picking up, had a few sales last week. Until nearly a week later I currently have 6 people who have not paid for items nor replied to emails querying payment. Due to start the drawn out NPB process.

Is this just the start of the silly season?? It makes me sooo mad

Iv escaped the NPB so far except when I was selling my old car.......... I realy hope its not start of silly season! Need some nice cash for christmas!
  • Yes, I'm on my 5th NPB in 3 weeks and I only sell about 5 items per week.

Also is the season for fraudsters to have a go too, I've had 2 items fail to arrive that I've bought.

Don't waste any time on these folk.

Send a polite reminder after 2-3 days another after 5-6 (with threats) and whack em on day 7.
  • i currently have 2 NPB disputes open and will have to open another tomorrow. is it true that if they dont respond to the dispute you can get their negative feedback removed?

If they do not respond to the NPB disptute, then any comment although will still appear they will not count on your feedback score.
  • It's not just buyers either from recent experience. There seems to be a growing trend for sellers to hang on as long as possible before sending and at the cheapest possible rate compared to the postal charges.
I'm not tarring all sellers with the same brush but this is just what seems to be happening to me more and more when I buy.
Thre also seems to be a lot more sellers stating the item is in the Uk when clearly it isn't!

I get more than my fair share of non paying bidders. As long as you give these NPB a strike it should make you feel better.

I hate NPB, there's nothing you can do about them but try to strike them out. Incidently a lot do pay up when threatened with strike action.

I think it has just got a lot worse this year. I am really thinking about not selling over the next month.

Update on my NPB issues - no reponse from any of the 6 buyers

I have had 2 NPB. What I find worse is the ones who claim their parcel has not arrived - send threatening emails and then leave you negative feedback despite your attempts to help (ie claim to the Royal Mail for them). I have had one of these this time last year. So yes I would say silly season is upon us.

Just always make sure you get Proof of Delivery and if its worth more than say a tenner send it recorded to be covered by Paypal.

OK, I would neg any seller if they told me they would 'help me' with a refund claim to RM. A refund for non delivery is not dependent on a succssful claim to RM, that is between the seller and the RM and does not involve the buyer at all.

Also it is best to be clear about tracking for paypal. If you are sending high priced items over £34 then you must send it special delivery *and* it must show as delivered to stop a chargeback. For items under £34 you can obviously use recorded if you wish but as the rate of items actually being signed for seems to be on a downward trend this may not be cost efficient. Just sending something recorded will not stop a chargeback if it is not signed for at the other end.
