I'm a bit late to the carrot party
. I keep my carrots in a dark red ice cream bucket in the fridge, and they keep for about 2 months. I put a folded kitchen towel sheet in the bottom, and make sure the lid is very tightly shut.

Carrots was only a representative of all veg. I did find I can get a lot of things from M&S loose so the extra on the price is less than the amount I was throwing out. I always end up with a few YS meals so I think I gain from the smaller quantities and less waste. I still have some tofu in the freezer from last week.
I also have a lot of ready prepared veg in the freezer mostly things I can put in soups, casseroles and curries. All big bags of ready diced freezable veg for only pennies. I had some in a veggie curry last night.
Just had delivered some silicone stretch covers for containers. They are in lots of sizes and shapes. I will now be able to cover the almost unavoidable plastic containers so much food comes in.
I try to avoid it but so much of small quantities come in them. There's no way I would buy a whole pineapple or a melon so now I can by smaller quantities and reuse the containers. I have been using a container from mushrooms to put veg peeling in when prepping meals for months and it is still as good as new. I do use the bigger ones for mushrooms as they are a good source of protein.
I have used two of them to store pkts of sauces, etc to keep them upright so I can see them easier and it keeps the cupboard tidy. I think I may use them for spices and other small things in the kitchen. I think they may come in for my knitting and sewing box too. It's just as good to reuse, to save them from landfill.2 -

I re-use the larger mushroom containers for storage too and have two in the kitchen cupboard, one for packets of sauces/casserole mixes and the other for stir fry sauces. Same reason as you - packets upright, cupboard tidy and easier to find what I'm looking for. More in a bedroom drawer for socks/underwear (folded Kondo style) and others in the cupboard under the kitchen sink for dishcloths, cleaning cloths, microfibre cloths and bin bags. Oh, and one in the bathroom for more cleaning cloths etc (saves running up and down stairs).
The coriander seeds I sowed the other week are starting to germinate but I'm still waiting for signs of the chilli seeds to appear. They're a slightly larger seed with a harder "shell" so I shall have to be patient, I think.
On my shopping list - potatoes and milk. I think I can put those off until Monday or Tuesday. If so, then I will have about £20 from this month's grocery cash to squirrel away. :j Plus, if I don't go out shopping I can demolish the ironing pile instead.
I've already done next week's meal plan and, once again, everything will be from existing stores. It really has brought home just how much stuff we have.So no, I won't be stocking up because of tomorrow's date.
Tonight's dinner: mash, broccoli, sausage casserole (from a batch cook) padded out with herby dumplings. Fruit & yogurt for afters.
Roll on February - daffs and other spring bulbs starting to appear in the pots on the patio, no CT or water rates to pay and more daylight.Be kind to others and to yourself too.3 -

I think they must have heard me muttering the other day something along the lines of "if you don't grow soon then you're heading for the bin".
I don't think the carrots would work - you'd probably get a pretty fern-like growth but no carrots sadly.
Speaking of carrots, today's soup making was spicy carrot & lentil. Just think, if the coriander was more advanced, it could have been carrot & coriander.Be kind to others and to yourself too.2 -

I do sometimes I always get through a lot of little tomatoes but mine are the small plum tomatoes. I don't think I could eat 3 packs of celery in a week just one in about 10 days. I do eat 60 to 70 portions of fruit and veg a week so I buy a lot of different ones. I'm doing better this week most have been eaten. My bin bag has lasted longer and my bin is not full of veg going off.
Yorkslass is right you will only get the leaves from the carrot tops. We grew them when we were kids. I also saw it on YouTube this week. There's a chap that does that sort of thing. I could not listen more than one of his videos he spoke in a monotone.2 -
One of my favourite treats is celery and hummus. I can easily polish off a pot of hummus and a few celerysticks there. Next step is making my own hummus, I have the chick peas ready in the store cupboard, but alas, no tahini...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi2

Taff if you have no tahini a little sesame oil adds a similar favour to humus. I also have chick peas and celery so that may feature over the week endLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin2
