OMG @pencakes26 Well done at reaching 85% paid off! You're an absolute inspiration :)

Thank you! I can’t believe how close I am now. I’m literally months away from being debt free 🤞🤞

  • Just a small update from me as I've been away with work a lot and not had a huge amount of downtime.

I've re-jigged my DMP (my annual review took place last month) and have played around with my budget to pay even more towards my debt. It'll be a tight few months but it does mean my last DMP payment will be in May instead of June. Small wins but I am just so eager now to get it done.

I'll still owe money to my family but they are happy for me to take my time with that and it's not 'official' debt so makes me feel less uneasy.

I spotted your thread a couple of weeks ago and sat down and had a good read to see how you got to where you have now.  I hope others with debt follow you and see how you have managed to get where you have. You really are an inspiration, well done, the end is definitely in sight.

    All the best

Thank you! I am in a very fortunate position and am very grateful to be able to pay off so much. I am also very grateful to the people at StepChange, I felt very stuck before I spoke to them.

Edging closer! My original plan was to be debt in time for my 36th birthday. I turned that last week so I didn't quite make it but I'll only be a couple of months away. Can't really moan too much about that. 🤞

Happy Monday everyone. Just popping on to say hi and weirdly to cheer myself up. I've been have a bit of a tough time recently and just don't feel my normal positive self so taking the time to regroup and look at the good stuff.

I am 28 days :o away from paying off my DMP. This month's payment has been paid but hasn't cleared yet so will update my sig to show the new figure when it does, but I've only go one more payment to go. One!! And then it's allll gone! When I first started my DMP I owed nearly £32k. To have cleared that in under three years feels huge to me. I can't quite believe it. I'm very excited to see the £0 statement next month.

I will owe my step father around £2k still, but that has no interest and no massive urgency (although I do want to make sure it is cleared sooner rather than later) so I feel like anxious about it.

I'll be honest, I've worked so hard at clearing my debt that it has dominated my life for a while, and I know it's had an impact on my life/relationships etc. I feel lighter every day, but I will feel like a weight of my shoulders when it has gone.
