I know this is old news not (Sep 2019) but if Monzo can't do it I do wonder what makes Tandem think they can...

"Monzo has axed its £6 a month premium bank account just five months after it launched the deal that offered customers different coloured cards and the chance to pay more for extra perks.

The Monzo Plus monthly bolt on, which was £3 for the first year for early adopters, was designed as the challenger bank's answer to packaged bank accounts like Nationwide's FlexPlus and Halifax's Ultimate Reward.

But the £6-a-month account launched in April only gave customers a new debit card – with two new card colours – a custom 'Monzo.me' URL and 'exclusive access to Monzo Plus events and swag'.

Some of the options Monzo planned to offer users as extra paid add-ons included doubling the monthly fee-free foreign ATM withdrawal allowance to £400, travel insurance, phone insurance and 1.5 per cent in-credit interest. "

I mean, Tandem's 0% APR and 1.5% interest strikes me as slightly better value than paying £6/mo for access to some custom website and "Monzo swag" :rotfl: but still not enough for me personally to stay...

Aqua's Cashback £25 is only available on the Aqua Classic card.
It's the Aqua Rewards card that offers cashback and no fee overseas purchases

I have Amex Blue (0.5% cashback on first £3k per year, then 1%), not available to new customers. I put most of my spending on that, however, there are a few retailers that don't accept Amex, the ones I encounter most often are Greggs, KFC, BM Bargains, B&Q, and my local bus company. That usually comes to about £80 per month, so that goes on Tandem. Also, Amex isn't good for foreign transactions.

Before getting Tandem, I used Nationwide Select (0.25% cashback), not available to new customers, for UK non-Amex purchases; and Santander Zero for foreign transactions. I still have them, and will probably go back to using them.

If you shop in B&Q a lot, buy B&Q gift cards from a retailer who takes Amex (Wilko, major supermarkets etc)

There are ways around some things, my local bus company allows me to buy a monthly pass online, they don't accept Amex but they do accept paypal so buy on Amex via Paypal.

Also if you shop in B&Q a lot do try screwfix and other shops.
Can't remember the last time I set foot in B&Q. Everything they stock can be had considerably cheaper in other shops! It's really not a good shop. The irony is that B&Q own screwfix and sell exactly the same stuff for twice the price in B&Q. Madness.
