I suddenly decided to go through my bookcase again, and have removed 6 books, and reorganised some of the others. I'm trying to decide which books to reread, and it's a bit hard. For instance, I love Nevil Shute, but I need to be in the right, strong mood, because his books are always sad, even though they end with hope.DDs are slowly going through the pile of clothes I took down for them from the attic. DD2 has already sent 3 items to the donation pile. Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.597

Aww, bless your cotton socks, I'm fine and dandy, just not on MSE these days, not really feeling it for the new-look forum, y'know? A little bird told me that I'd been missed so I thought I'd better pop my nose around the door and say HI.
Life has shrunk to working from home in the day job and shuttling to and fro the lotties by pushbike along with once a week to the supermarket for the essential food groups (milk and chocolate, natch).Saw the 'rents and Kid Bruv the week before lockdown but haven't seen them this Easter, of course, which is a bit sad, but we talk every day on the phone. We're all in the same boat, of course.Lotties (have a full-size and a half-size) are doing well. Spuds are in, onions were planted 26th Jan and are having their first weeding sesh atm, seeds are started indoors, parsely, parsnips, beetroot planted on 11th April, the Feral Chard forest is looking lush and the grass is growing as high as an elephant's eye.Hope everyone is keeping well as as sane as possible, even if there are few places to donate/dispose/recycle things at the moment due to the current circs.Much love to all . GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Thank you for posting GreyQueen, I'd been wondering if you and your family were OK too. I hope the olive supplies are holding up

Lovely to see you, GreyQueen, and to know that you and your family are doing well. How are your parents coping with the lockdown?We/I are converting part of our backyard to veg plot; I have started off seeds in my old cupboard-like greenhouse, and have sown seeds in the old sandpit (square gap in the terrace where we once had a sandpit that was enjoyed by all the local cats, so we filled it up with potting compost). I don't have proper compost anymore, so I'm rejuvenating the old compost with several types of plant food I have.I had planned to replace our blue grape by a seedless white one, but will nurse the blue grape for another year. It's nice and sweet, but has very tiny very sharp seeds. My 53 cotton handkerchiefs spark a lot of joy at the moment, as my hayfever has come back. The small bucket has been put back in use in the bathroom to catch the warm-up shower and tap water. It hasn't rained here for 3 or 4 weeks, and if we want to have any sort of harvest, we need to start watering. Our rhubarb plant is not really growing at the moment, and our elderly neighbour's rhubarb plants are ripe, but short and thick. I'm allowed to harvest them; he doesn't like rhubarb, but leaves the 3 plants there for me especially, which is very kind (he has a huge garden, 30x50m at a guess). I rely on frozen rhubarb for cheap winter vitamins!A compost heap has been started in our backyard, after a request from the council to keep any and all garbage to a minimum, but especially not to add grass mowings to the green bin, as the garbage men and trucks are overloaded. The trampoline we bought last year is sparking a lot of joy; dds are on it a few times a day, and I do 50 jumps every day (as I noticed that my nether muscles were not as tight as they are supposed to be and I was losing an occasional drop
).
WFH and homeschooling is unexpectedly sparking a lot of joy now that we have found our rhythm.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.598 -
The olive stash is good for 18 months at a rate of a jar-per-week, which is normal usage. I am sooo glad I am not in process of housemoving as it would be quite hard to explain the quantity of olive jars atm. Also, plenty of olive oil. Bearing in mind pressure on the olive trees due to a disease, it's good to know these things are already here and paid for.
The 'rents aren't experiencing much change in their usual lives. Mum is virtually housebound anyway, Dad goes for long country walks a couple of times a week, and gets the shopping in. Visits to/ from family members are paused, of course, and this includes me. Thank goodness for phones and the 'tinterwebs. The sole surviving moggie (Wild Thing) is transitioning into summer mode. This involves shedding her winter pelt all over the house before spending the next several months loafing in the back yard, rocking up every few hours for grub and for strokes. She has a lovely life, bless her but, if you every have a choice of a long-haired cat and a short-haired cat, don't choose the furball unless you want to spend a chunk of time chasing fluffy fur all over you home.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
