If you request a card for the Flex Regular Saver, you get your own sort code and account number. This cannot be applied for through internet banking, you have to use the form on the main Nationwide website.

For this reason, I'd suggest PK1000 tries it with a token amount first, before sending (up to) £500!

I always send £1 and check its been received before sending anything greater. I always dread sending money to accounts that require a minimum amount, or only one deposit (I opened a Principality Regular Saver yesterday, and although the £500 per month can be sent in any number of denominations, they require a £20 minimum, and I cannot check its been received until I receive the code in the post to log on to their website!)
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Leeds BS have now closed my Issue 6 RS as I already had an Issue 5 RS. They transferred the balanced + 2p interest into an instant access account of theirs. Looks like the only way to close that account it to visit a Branch, or to request a cheque in writing. I definitely got outsmarted by them this time! :o

Wish their stupid online system wouldn't have allowed me to open the Issue 6 RS in the first place.

In August when I made my first appointment someone in branch had told me that Branch RS could only be opened in branch by appointment.

But because of the info above I tried it today again. I called the VM Hay mark Branch. The girl on the phone told me yes I could open it oven rte phone but it could only be opened in the head office and put me on hold for about three minutes for the phone number to call. They gave me this number 0345 606 7685.

I called this number and mentioned that I was given this number by her colleague in London Branch, who told me that I could open branch based regular saver over this phone line. The answer is that

"For regular saver, unfortunately it could only be opened by either online for online Reg e-saver or in Store for Branch based regular saver".

I do not want to waste my time again to argue with her by pointing her based on the info provided by "patientperson" as above. Anyway I already have an appointment with them.

I wonder if anyone else wanted to try to call his/her branch and ask whether it could be opened over the phone.

If it was me I would be tweeting Virgin Money or @richardbranson about this...

Colsten - same as me, but 3p interest. They insisted on a signed letter.

I opened issue 5 of the branch Regular Saver on Friday, I asked if the account can be opened by phone, and was told no, this was a rescheduled appointment as my first one at beginning of August was cancelled as the staff member was ill, and asked if it can be opened and posted to me as I was worried that the account would be pulled or could be but like someone else correctly said its still a valid account offering but not as easy to view online.

Funded and now waiting for the 1st to fund my online versions.

This is another evidence that there are still some people working in the Banks who are Incompetent and do not know their own product. Just in this occasion alone there are already two people in the banks gave me the wrong information.

For that reason alone I do not just believe what they are telling me without checking it. further, even it is mentioned on their website.

I too manage to open Branch RS i5 last week and the adviser I was sitting with told me you could only open Branch RS in Branch.
