People who apply from 07/01/09 onwards will get an Issue 9 account which will only pay 5% gross p.a. fixed. According to emoneyfacts, the new Issue 9 account will not allow payments to be amended during the 13 month term.
Hi all, can I clarify that issue 8 (and 7) will let you pay in between £20 and £250 per month i.e. you have the option to change the amount each month if you wish, without penalty.
Whereas issue 9 will only accept 13 equal payments each month, i.e. if you pay £250 for months 1-6 for example and things get a little tight you cannot drop it to £20 in month 7?

More rate reductions as at 1st Jan:
Loughborough Regular Saver + 4.5% from 5.5%
Darlington Monthly Super Saver 5.5% from 6.0%0 -
Hi everybody,
I have updated the first posts of this thread with the following changes:
- Abbey Fixed Rate and Super Fixed Rate Monthly Saver accounts have already changed and the amount saved per month can be varied between £20 and £250 according to the Abbey website
- Abbey First Home Saver interest rate now 5.5% (down 1%)
- Britannia BS Home Saver interest rate now 4% (down 1%)
- Marsden BS Christmas Saver interest rate now 5% (updated but unchanged rate!)
I have checked the Monmouthshire BS Christmas Saver and Saver Plus - they have both dropped to 3.1% so they don't make it on to this list.
Thanks for mentioning the disappearance of the Yorkshire BS Regular Saver and then the reappearance of this account in the form the Regular Saver Issue 2. It might well end up just about squeezing on to this list.
I am not getting rid of the accounts paying 4% yet or adding in the Yorkshire BS Regular Saver Issue 2 until we have a level playing field - the Anglo-Irish and ICICI accounts which are recommended on Martin's Savings Accounts page still have not dropped their rates yet following the last interest rate cut.More rate reductions as at 1st Jan:
Loughborough Regular Saver + 4.5% from 5.5%
Darlington Monthly Super Saver 5.5% from 6.0%
Thanks RayWolfe. Before anybody new to this thread starts asking why those accounts are not on my list, the reason is that they are not available to new applicants. As always, I am happy for people to post updated interest rates for "old favourites" here - accounts which were popular but are no longer paying well or accounts which are no longer available to new applicants.
All the best,

Is the Derbyshire BS loyalty saver still available?
I can't find any details on their website.0 -
Just recieved my passbook for the Principality issue 5, 7.00%, application posted 12/12 and opened 31/12.
My existing issue 5 matured 28/12 and I was hoping their huge backlog would delay the opening of my new issue 5 until after the maturity of my existing issue 5.
I also opened a issue 6 paying only 6% on the 24/12 via a branch.0 -

Here's the page but I don't know whether it's been withdrawn.

The Derbyshire loyalty saver has been withdrawn.
I know it was still available in December, as OH opened one.
Mine is 1 year old this month and interest will be dropping from 7% to 3%, so I will be closing it.0 -
Withdrawn on 31st December, I just missed it by one day.0
