I usually say something like "I appreciate that you have a job to do and, whilst I don't wish to appear rude, I have all of the insurance/loans/mortgages/bananas I need at the moment thank you"

I shorten this to "No thanks".

My wife and I have a joint Santander 123 account and additionally we each have our own. Does anyone have recent expernce of opening a second account online in sole names recently please?

I'm not clear from recent posts whether it is permitted and possible.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Only one sole and one join ac based on T&C.
But sometimes, what is stated on the T&C not necessary what is put in practice. This is sometimes due to IT glitch that have not been put as a restriction.

If you apply and they approved it, it is not your problem anymore. Though they also have the right to close the account the do not like without the need to tell the reason why.

Having said that I have not tried it by myself but I got a pm people telling me that they managed to open two sole Santander 123 accounts.

Any good practice, regarding the art of declining the Bank sales Pitch without sounding rude or offensive to the agents ?? They are humans and have emotion themselves, they are just doing their job what they have been told.

I also was sick of the constant sales pitch no matter how I contacted my main bank. When I spoke to someone with authority about something else one time I politely said this was doing my head in and asked nicely if it could be stopped on my account, he said he marked my account as no marketing and that was that.

10 years later and still to this day no matter where or how I interact with that bank they never attempt to sell me anything, they just deal with whatever I phoned/went in about. It is bliss

I also always thick no marketing in any forms on my online banking or when I applied using TB.

But my personal experience, irrespective what I have ticked (as above), it is a different case when you are asked to come to the branch to open a new account.

You are one of the lucky one. I wonder how many people have the same experience with this if they have been asked to come to the branch to open an account ?? Not applies to me unfortunately,

Like I said I didn't get this marked just by ticking a box. I actually asked someone with authority when I was in for an appointment about something else. They showed me the screen where my account was set to complete no marketing.

Relevance to either this thread and/or Progressive B.S regular saver ISA is ......

Please dont say relevance is that B.O.S 3% current account pays more than ...... because large number of us already have those accounts x3 plus Progresssive regular saver account(s).

I am also keen to know if Progressive B.S Regular Saver ISA 2.75% rate as well as its non ISA branch regular saver will also be reducing in rate.

all rates down at progressive building society down

The Yorkshire Bank Current Account Direct is no longer on sale.

B is now the only current account that Yorkshire Bank offers that pays interest on balances up to £2,000. It pays 0.5% and after one year charges £2 per month.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

I seem to remember someone, albeit a while ago, posting a formula linking all the best interest paying accounts, how many you can have, and direct debit payments needed between each of the accounts.
I've searched high and low for it on the forum, but I cant seem to find it. Can anyone recall it and could you point it out please. Thanks, John

So they replace a current account where you could earn £60 a year with no charge (2% on £3000) with one where you would earn a maximum of £10 in interest (0.5% on £2,000) but which will in due course cost £24 a year to operate.

    Where can I sign up?:D
