New Santander account opened - waited on the phone for about 15 minutes and it took about another 15 minutes to set up with the poor bloke having to read out all the T&Cs - I asked and he said he's done it quite a few times now and is starting to do it in his sleep he also set up the standing order for me. The account is already showing on my online/mobile banking. All in all very straightforward!

20 mins wait and 20 mins of them reading out T&C, i lost the will to live during all that stuff.

Thank god its open and I don't have to deal with them face to face again!

I opened my Santander RS last week. 25 minute wait for the call to be answered, then the guy who answered, after running through the security questions, said "Oh, you're a Select customer, I have to transfer you to another team"!!!. Anyway, the whole process took 40 minutes, but if you are Select then ignore the number on the website and use the Select hotline number.

Never known anything like the palava we had to go through. not made any easier because he wouldn't speak to me as account is to be in wife's name and she didn't know the ins and outs of the account. Had to put it on speaker-phone eventually and have a 3 way chat. had to tell him several times exactly which account we wanted but he still insisted telling us about all the others. nearly gave up as it was hardly worth it!

Even better for those with something to switch to it. ( doesnt require anything in account that is being used to switch from, although I would tend to leave a small balance )

I've looked at TSB and Lloyds terms & conditions and can't see that the standing orders have to be from their current accounts. Is this correct or have I missed seeing it?

Are you sure you looked at the TSB T&Cs?

2.1 You can only pay money into the Account by your Standing Order
