Apologies if this is already covered somewhere in the huge thread, but for the Leeds BS Regular Saver, how exactly is it operated by post if I want to move/close money, considering I'm not anywhere near a branch?
Thanks0 -

You can give them written instructions, and they'll probably ask for your instructions a few weeks before maturity. I think they can send you a cheque if you want your money out of Leeds BS.0 -

They send you a withdrawal form with each credit you make, with the deposit slip and envelopes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. Hi Folks,
I have added the Hanley Economic BS Home Deposit Saver account to post 8 (paying 3.25% but I think you have to take out a mortgage with Hanley Economic BS otherwise get a 180 day interest penalty). I cannot find anything else to change on the first page of this thread.
If you celebrate it then have a great Easter. If not then have a great, really long Bank Holiday weekend!
I will do another update this weekend.

This is an interesting one. So in any 12 month period that you withdraw, other than for one of their mortgages, the rate drops effectively to 1.65% - some might say not so bad these days.
Then further down they say that if no subs are received for 3 months then they reserve the right to close the account. I wonder if them closing it in this way would trigger the 180 days loss of interest? However, they would give 30 days notice to do that; so that's four months gone before you could get your money with or without the full interest rate.
I can't see how much you can add each month anywhere?0 -
Leek B.S have similar clauses with its now closed to new account openings - Homebuyers Regular Saver -3%
Loss of interest if ,,,,,,
Reserve the right to ......if .....
I asked Leek B.S if there is any loss of interest if they take the latter option and reply was No.:)
Best thing is for people to open accounts with Hanley and ask the question afterwards so they dont change anything too quickly.
Hanley Account appears to just have a minimum initial and overall maximum balance, I would suggest people open initially with smallish initial investment.0 -

On the moneysupermarket.com page on this account, it says you can deposit £100 - £500 per month. It also says you can access your money after 36 months (perhaps they mean access it penalty-free), which is also not stated on the Hanley Economic website. If anybody finds out any more then let us all know and I can put more detail in my entry on page 1 of this thread.

Hanley Economic B.S adopted a locals only policy many years ago and whilst a postcode restriction is not mentioned I will be surprised if it doesnt still have such a restriction in place for new savings accounts.

Just got a call from our Santander Branch reconfirming an appointment for Monday, still no idea of if/when their new regular saver will be openable on line.
Contrast that with opening a Charter Savings 1year f/r account online with no probs and I'm not even an existing customer of theirs.0
