I've opened a YBS regular saver account. Just hoping someone can confirm if I can make the monthly £250 transfer from a linked YBS savings account (it's an e-Saver), ie. I can't see that the bonus conditions specify it has to be an external account?

I've called them up and the woman I spoke to said as much but she sounded a little unsure so it would be nice to get another view.

You can pay in or transfer from anywhere you like and in as many payments you like as long as you stick to the minimum and maximum monthly limits.

It is suggested in post #4 to close this account after 12 months at the end of the bonus period and open a new account to benefit from the bonus again.

    However, their web page states
If you close the account for any reason, you will not be able to open a new Charity Saver account for 12 months.

I can report that I close an old and open a new one every 12 months (ie after the bonus period expires) and have never had any problems.

The link in post #2 takes you to the Cheshire BS equivalent.

    Hi Folks,

I have carried out this weekend's update.

    - Skipton BS Special Edition Regular Saver withdrawn
    - Teachers BS Charity Saver (Issue 2) entry updated to reflect that the Teachers BS website now states that if you close this account then you have to wait 1 year before you can open a new one
    - Corrected Derbyshire BS entry link (the Cheshire and Derbyshire BS websites look really similar to me!)

Thanks to the people who posted above.

Next weekend, I will move the Derbyshire and Cheshire Platinum Issue 8 accounts from post 3 to post 7 (mature in less than 12 months) unless they come out with new versions by then. As these accounts mature on 31st July 2014, I suspect it will not be long before these accounts are replaced with issue 9 versions.

I will do another update next weekend.

What I find confusing is that clause 28.2 indicates that the interest rate for the Regular Saver can be varied given 30 days notice. I don't see how this tallies with a fixed rate of interest quoted ...

    (Re First Direct)

I put in feedback that this clause seems to contradict 5.8 which says that the rate of interest is fixed at the time one opens the account. The explanation given by the agent seemed to be a bit confused but I think the idea is that FD will give at least 30 days notice of any reduction in rate for newly opened accounts. So if one has a Regular Saver maturing today one doesn't have to rush to start a new one as one can be confident that the current rate will be around for a while unless a change has already been announced. I got the agent to agree that the Ts&Cs are unclear as they stand.

Principality RS has gone up to issue 14 and down to 2%

(Yes the link says issue 11, but it goes to the issue 14 page!)

Oh, and the Dylan's Childrens RS has gone to Issue 5 and 3%
