    - Furness BS Regular Saver account interest rate decreased from 2.75% to 2.55%
    - Cheshire and Derbyshire BS Platinum regular saver accounts moved from post 3 to post 7 as there is now less than 12 months to run for people who open these accounts now
    - Principality BS Dylan Regular Saver Bond issue 4 paying 4% replaced with issue 5 paying 3%
    - Principality BS Regular Saver Bond issue 13 paying 3% replaced with issue 14 paying 2%

I will do another update next weekend.

  • Hi Folks,

    Here is this weekend's update.

There is a new regular saver account: the Dudley BS Easy Saver account. It pays 3% on £0-£300 per month for 12 months, no withdrawals except for account closure, which does not seem to incur any penalty. Can be opened in a branch. According to moneyfacts.co.uk can be opened by post; the leaflet does not say this but it gives a telephone number to ring for the Savings Department to discuss this account so you could try that or ring a branch to ask them to send out an application form. The website says you need to be a UK resident and does not appear to impose any other geographical restriction.

I will do another update next weekend.

I thought that it might be too good to last, mine matures shortly and I was hoping to get another one. It's the only account that I currently hold with them so it looks like I'll have to open a Mickey Mouse account in order to maintain my membership. :(

Yes, it is annoying when this happens. Perhaps the WB will introduce another regular saver with a lower interest rate which will be better than a MM account.

yes...we will see. i left £100 in a bond alongside this Regular Saver.
interesting that you are making a point of retaining WBBS membership eddie.
  • Having sado-masochistic tendencies and an afternoon to spare, I went to their A.G.M. a couple of weeks ago. The biscuits were nice and and the back to basics pep talk was enlightening but I was not entirely convinced that the reduction of reserves after 5 years of losses could support too many more mentions in the best buy accounts league table but probably just enough to keep the gravy train running on time.
Anyway, I digress from the theme of this thread for which I apologise. :o

Just to confirm that you can open by post. I rang them and they are attaching an application form to an email to me.
  • I've been told in branch this morning that the West Brom will be launching a new RS account from 28th August, paying 3.3%
