Does the Abbey Fixed Rate Monthly Saver (issue 7) still count as a 'regular investment' so you can open a Super Monthly Saver 2 at the same time?0

Try looking on their website and all you'll find is the newsflash when they announced it in September last year. It doesn't appear on the list of savings accounts, and it doesn't appear on the table of current interest rates, neither for currently available nor for closed issues. WBBS recently sent me a booklet which listed all their current interest rate, and no surprise, the Magic 8 is missing.
They also sent me a letter apologising for missing the Magic 8 out of their interest rate booklet!0 -

Well that is curious. Appears the branches must have differing information. I am not too surprised, as written information is seriously lacking.
I guess time will tell. I will pop into my branch soon after 1st April to get my book updated and will post here whether any interest included. Know this time lapse will not help SS2. but it will certainly finalise this discrepancy !

Above from my post number 61 in this thread (refer also to posts 59 and 60).
The question was whether West Brom would add interest on Magic 8 accounts on 01 April.
I am pleased to report that I did pop into my West Brom branch, and interest was, (yes it WAS) added on 01 April.
Discrepancy now a closed issue. (much like the Magic 8 itself from Monday!).

No, I do not think it counts - the whole point for Abbey is that you take out an investment product (or pension or insurance product) on which they will make a commission.0 -
Now has a product called the Family Regular Saver, which pays 5% PLUS another 3% bonus if you keep it for the full year, don't miss payments/withdraw early. So that's a total of 8% interest.
The only thing is that it is available only to families with dependant children, and I'm told you can only have one per family (either in joint or single names).
I have spoken with them today and confirmed that you dont have to live in area/already have another account with them etc.
With rates falling on regular savers, this might be helpful to someone.
Thanks for your post but this account is already on the list - it is in post 4.0 -
Hello everybody,
I have updated this thread as follows:
- updated interest rates (both down by 0.25%) on Chorley BS Galloway account (now 7%) and Ipswich BS Homebuyer account (now 6%)
- removed Loughborough BS regular saver account (withdrawn 14th April)
- removed West Bromwich BS Magic 8 account (being withdrawn on Monday 21st April so if you have don't have one by now, you are not going to have one!)
- added in provisional details of West Bromwich BS Midland Super Saver account to post 4 (to be launched on Tuesday 22nd April)
- restored HSBC Regular Saver account as it appears that it is still available for some account holders (retrieved the details from my archive file!)
- checked links and fixed the link for the Scarborough BS City Saver account
Well, that is it for this week. I might be on the internet next Friday rather than Saturday but either way I shall get on the net and update this thread again next weekend. I imagine a few accounts will have dropped their interest rates by 0.25% (or more) by then. Have a nice week.

Special conditions: Limit of £15,000 (but you can always slow down your contributions when you are getting close to this).

A&L are doing their 12% regular saver again for new customers as from today. But unfortunately we can't take advantage this time because I just applied for the 10% ISA last night and dh still has account with them from last year's ISA offering.0
