    Hello SuperF..
Well done on 100 posts!   Sounds-like you have a busy weekend ahead.. good going with the exercise, fitness and gym regime, looking after a little one as well will also keep you fit!

Do you plan free activities with DD, try to make sure you plan in advance of what you are doing, so you don’t end up spending more than you wanted to. Again you should have a pot for DD activities. You should try in a month to have 3 free activities and then 1 which you can pay for from your pot (assuming you have 4 a month). Not sure how old they are but get them involved with everything, making sandwiches to take out on a trip, help making the snacks. Ask them to draw a picture of 5 different things they like to do, then that puts you at task to do them and try to find free options. Think now about Easter eggs? They are now at the cheapest and most supermarkets will have their offers showing.

It was nice of you to say you like reading my posts, and feel accountable.. it’s also nice to feel that I am able to give some advice or help you think about things differently. I can imagine it’s going to be a long hard slog for a while and you will need that support and help to get through to see those debt fee goals.

I actually think if you treat your debt a bit like gym training, you will succeed!

Well a a bit of a busy day for me.. long story but I have had a lot of illness and health problems for the past 3 years, 3 operations later.. but will be going out to a family gathering later, so hopefully I will be ok to do this. We also have a family run business so I do work, but it has been very difficult at times.

Have to go now (more another time) but I think this is why I now view money so differently after health problems.

    Hi Blythe,

Hope you've had a lovely weekend and the family gathering went well. Sorry to hear about your health problems.

We do try to do free activities as much as possible. It will be a lot easier going forward now once the weather starts to turn. That's a great point about the Easter eggs, will pick them up this week.

  • Hey MSE,
It has been such a busy weekend considering we didn't actually have anything planned.

Yesterday morning OH & I went to the gym, then to Tesco for a bite to eat after our session. OH paid. Then we were back out in the afternoon to meet up with some friends in a coffee shop. I bought our coffees so spent £4.80 but it was out of my weekly 'pocket money' so all good.

Then when we were home I was logging in to book my car in for the work that needs doing and as I was about to book it asked me if I wanted to use the 'Payment Scheme'. I googles this and basically small garages offer this scheme where you can pay the total bill over 4 installments at 0%. I felt like I had hit the jackpot! So instead of me having to fork out nearly £500, I can no pay it over 4 months @ £114pm. Obviously if it wasn't 0% I would've paid it in full, but I would rather have the money sitting in my account than theirs.

This now means that I have to re jiggle my budget spreadsheet for the next 4 months to take into account these changes but it will be worth it because it now means I can save more from February's pay.

OH & I went to legs, bums& tums this morning. I was the only guy there  :D really enjoyed though and got a good workout. Home for scrambled eggs & mushrooms on toast for the post workout brunch.

Think that's it from me. Tonight is homemade sausage casserole that's in the slow cooker.

    Hi Frank
just been catching up on your diary, I must admit I've not been on the forum so much since it changed. I've found it harder to navigate and not been able to find my fave diaries lol.

You sounds like you're doing great and sticking to plan. Well done in also paying your car insurance in full. I have also went with Sheilas wheels lol.

I'm impressed at your gym going and good for you going to legs bums and tums with your other half! I go to some female dominated classes but one or two men will attend from time to time and they seem to enjoy them.

    Hi Poppy,

How have you been? No, I am not a fan of this new style but hey ho I think it is because I am a creature of habit and do not like change! I'm sure I will get used to it.

Oh waw my core has been in bits since that LBT class. Had another class tonight, Synergy power which was set up a bit like a circuit style class but using all sorts of equipment such as kettle bells etc. Half an hour and I was out of there. The weight is starting to come off too without me really changing anything. Don't get me wrong, when I need to turn it on and lose the weight I am like a regimental Sargent! But at the moment I am just enjoying getting back into the swing of things (No pun).

Hi Sarah, hope you are well?
I was so chuffed when I seen they offered that payment scheme! Spread sheets have been updated too so I am on track with everything.

I have been following your diary. I am intrigued, which football team do you support? I'm a Chelsea fan :)

  • Good Evening MSE,

Just back from the gym. Showered, Chicken Fajitas post workout meal as they are quick and easy.

Had a couple of letters back this week from creditors. Capital One wanting me to fill in a I&E form which I will be politely ignoring. It does mention on the letter that If the payment plan they want me to go onto lasts too long then they will default me sooner rather than later because it will benefit my credit file as it will fall off in 6 years time. That was music to my ears and it seems now that companies are catching on to people wanting to default ASAP. Barclaycard on the other hand sent me a text to say, we have put your account on hold until you are back on your feet! Not what I wanted but I am sure a couple more missed payments and they will follow suit.

OH working tonight so time to put my feet up and watch the footie.

    Hi SuperF..
Good news about the payment plan at the garage, sounds like they probably get a lot of business offering this to their customers.

Do you need any other things doing to you car soon? Or is that all for now?

Do you plan on self managing your DMP or are you going through one of the debt charities, I don’t have experience myself only from what I have read on MSE. Have you read about requesting a CCA to see if the debt is enforceable? Might  be something to consider whilst your waiting for the defaults.

Make sure your update your spreadsheet with the latest letters and texts.

Glad the gym is going well, you that you are enjoying all the classes.

I've been ok thank you, I'm just plodding in no real news really. Still aiming to get down to that £15,000 mark thats my next goal as such. I'm back at the gym regular so feeling happy with myself about that. I've been reading SSDD23's diary and she's doing the 30 day shred dvd and reading about it is motivating me to ratch my dvd our and start doing that at home too. I'd like to do it before work but I'm a real night owl and not a morning person at all so don't think I'm going to be able to do that.
