Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2020

I'll have to be an occasional contributor, I'm afraid; my feet haven't touched the ground for several days! But I'm beavering away continuously in the background...
Make-do: DD2's having an attack of dressmaking; she doesn't tend to use patterns, so I've given her a big pile of past-their-best flat sheets to use as "toiles" to get the fit right. Plus, I got a huge bargain on a new mattress (bankrupt stock) and am planning to carve up the foam from our old one to make a 5' cushion for our pine bedhead - OH likes to watch TV up there, leaning against it - and "arms" for the day-bed in the downstairs guest room, which also gets used as a second living room when not occupied. (It already has a "back" which consists of a fabulous old whole-cloth quilt and a caravan cushion.)
Mend: a very minor thing, which actually makes a big difference; a couple of stitches in a curtain tie-back! To replace the ring that goes onto the hook... Our house would be very dark if I didn't keep the curtains under control in the daytime.
Minimise: I took a lot of garden waste down to the Tip, along with the old mattress cover and a large pile of cardboard; DD1 raided !kea last week for some new bedroom furniture. I now have to sell her old bits... a process which is under way, but realistically I'm not going to get her as much as she'd like for them!Angie - GC Oct 25: £119.23/£400: 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)5 -
Hi Peeps,
fell off the perch a bit but am back again to keep doing what we do.
Make Do - Finished the Christmas dinner soup. Twas very tasty!!
Mend - Not happening here very well. This pile too is upping a little bit.
Minimise - Sorting books from 1 box for now for village library. Even if they can't use they go forward to be recycled into books. Also minimising the fuel bills foraging for free wood paying off.
Have a good week keep on keeping onAnything is better than nothing-check back and see

Now got a horrible tooth infection
Just waiting for the antibiotics to kick in. Not much MMMing going on as feel pretty rotten.
Got a wee pile of mending to do so will do that over the weekend while OH finishes the painting. Also got a huge pile of ironing which needs done.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31

Thankfully feeling much better now
however haven't done the mending or the ironing. Had a fairly lazy weekend apart from food shopping, visiting my gran and going to the gym.
OH managed to knock the spice rack on the floor while painting so that's been mended with some superglue. Took the opportunity to go through the spices and got rid of quite a few spices that were out-of-date and gunked together.
OH did a roast chicken dinner for tea, we'd bought an extra large one so there would be plenty of leftovers. Bones are in the slow cooker to make stock and I'll make soup tomorrow. Plan is to have chicken and mushroom pie for tomorrow night's tea and some sort of chicken and pasta dish on Tuesday. Any leftover stock and chicken will be frozen for risotto another day.
Hope everyone has had a good weekendMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31

Finally managed to sort my login out :j Hoping to join you all again. I have been continuing the MMM mantra through family deaths and downsizings!!! I have my own room of doom left to sort and that's it!
Still a lot to do but I have MMM'd a 3 bedroom house into a 1 bedroom sheltered flat plus half a semi detached house, two garden sheds, and two lofts  - only 1 skip out of all that :j - was very proud of myself.
Now, in my room of doom, I have bits that I thought I wanted to keep, but as time has gone on I have realised that I don't need them. So, once I have suitably libraried the vinyl records, a large chunk will go off to the local auction house. :T Then I can try and get my crafty on again!5 -

I lost weight before Christmas so I have taken in a pair of trousers so must consider that as 'make-do, minimise and mend as it saves buying another new pair.5

Wow celtic_moon that is a lot of MMMing
Got a few days off work so plan to spend today and tomorrow doing flat and garden things. Whole flat could do with a good clean and tidy, the garden fence needs taken down and we're planning to go to the dump tomorrow as there's various things that need gotten rid of.
My sister has had her baby so we're planning to go down at the weekend to visitMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31
