Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2020

Welcome Ellie79 - wow sounds like your mum is going to be a really valuable resource for gaining some fantastic skills.
Tonight I have cleaned out the fridge and made a large pan of stock ready to jar up and freeze sick of buying stock cubes but then chucking out veg scraps. I even stuck a full lemon in there so goodness knows what it will come out like. I also made some carrot and parsnips soup (with a rogue piece of cauliflower which I thought would thicken it up a little more). I've got a bread loaf on the go overnight and some dried chick peas in the slow cooker so I can portion them and freeze in the morning. I've never done this before but wanted to give it a try as am trying to eat less meat for both environmental and cost saving purposes.
Here's to an MMM weekend - never easy with my DOH although we are going out for Sunday lunch with a voucher from my lovely niece who works in a gorgeous hotel where they do said Sunday lunch. It will be a 3 course sit down meal in a lovely dining room. I'm really looking forward to it - mainly because it means that I won't have to cook. Yay x5 -
Toilet got fixed yesterday :T
Not much MMMing today as I've been hit by the lurgy so feeling pretty rotten but did take my friend to the tip so she could get rid of a load of cardboard.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31

Whoop!
Mimimised the piles of bedding all over the place by finally sorting out the airing cupboard which DH put additional shelves into, and chucking the dead holdall we'd been keeping some in for a while.
Made do with the end of the leftover frozen cream from Christmas going in our curry, despite DH's deep suspicion about its consistency.

Wow, lots of progress still being made.
I passed on 3 bits of hardboard which had been in my shed for a year for set building for the village panto.
Lots of plastic bottles and boxes still in the house awaiting painting as props (will be recycled after)
Off cuts of wood in for kindling for the fire.
I still have the lurgy (4 weeks and counting) so hopefully will be minimising that soon.£400,000 starting Jan 2020 current end date Aug 2041 I would love the end date to be 2027 but will aim first for 2037.

Hello. Please could I join in too. Have so far freecycled 3 pairs of running socks [haven't run in a long time] and have a packet of babywipes and nappy sacks going today which I think my son bought for his travels and has given to me even though I don't use either. A client gave me a pile of old teatowels which I have cut up for kitchen cleaning cloths. Found a cardboard box with a hole in the front which makes a perfect dispenser for them. ArilxAiming for a life of elegant frugality wearing a new-to-me silk shirt rather than one of hair!4

Thankfully feeling so much better, still have a runny nose and cough but no longer feel miserable
Made a beef tagine last night which was yummy and used up a tin of chickpeas that have been in the cupboard for ages. Put some in the freezer for a later date and was going to have it again tonight but neither me or OH are feeling particularly hungry so just going to have egg mayo sarnies and keep it for tomorrow night. There's some butternut squash in the fridge which I'll roast to go with it.
OH had started painting the kitchen, it's a nice purple colour. At the start of the year we made a list of all the little (and not so little :rotfl:) jobs that need done around the house and will work our way through them. Once the painting is finished, we need to get new lino for the floor and tile the area behind the cooker.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.9.25 - £105,664.31
