annieb64 said:Made a couple of masks for DDs as I managed to get some elastic from the local sewing shop. I used fabric that I'd had for some time. So far I haven't had to buy any. I'm wondering if I could make a mask from one of DHs silk ties.
I'm using strips cut horizontally from the lower edge of an old t-shirt as ties behind the head, instead of elastic - partly because it stands up to repeated washing, but also the ties don't hurt my ears and knocks my specs off
Worth trying if you are short of elastic?
I have to make a mask for my mother-out-law - yikes, no pressure then!!!2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

We've been redecorating the second bedroom for my daughter as my son moved out a couple of years ago. When we moved into our first home we bought storage baskets from I-kea. I have rounded up 7 so far from around the house. Bunged them in the bath with stone washing powder and they came up lovely so that's the new toy storage sorted. The mirror from DS's wall is now on our hallway wall too. I love a bit of re-use! I took the fabric off the old roller blind as it didn't match the new decor and the string bit broke, going to use that to make a shopper at some point.

I have a make do (and a minimise I suppose) to report. I'm making a Christmas present of dolls clothes for my niece and I have made quite a selection of things for her so far out of left over fabric and wool I had. The only downside is that I am so pleased with them I may not want to part with them.I also have managed a mend today. I have finished painting and organising my allotment shed but I needed to sort the guttering out so that it feeds into a water butt to collect water. I managed to put the guttering up but to finish it I need to get an elbow joint (I think thats what they are called) to attach the downpipe to so the water feeds into the water butt. I managed to find all the necessary bits in my shed but no elbow joint. I have got some guttering etc left over so I may be able to attach a piece to the other side of my greenhouse as well so that I can collect even more water. I need to wait until after pay day to buy the bits to complete that particular mend but at least I am part of the way there.

I haven't posted for ages, and just lost a long post....
Make-do. Using the back of cupboard stuff, which makes for very interesting combos of eating. But I did find very mature and tasty chutneys. Working my way through the freezer. Making own bread and yogurt.
Mend. Trousers,underwear,cushion covers,chipped vase,socks.
Minimise. Evergreen honeysuckle that was beyond redemption and 15 feet tall.
Wool collection, by giving lots away for prem baby clothes, encouraging yarn bombers for next years display, poppies for this years remembrance.I'm knitting stripes from scraps into very long lengths ,to be sewn together to make a blanket.
Odds and sods of material etc for local animal hospital and rags for CS. Best bits into squares for machine patchwork.I also have a tiny hexagon patchwork on the go,3/4 inch hexies.
I'm aiming to clear most of my craft room floor.
Don't you find that crafter's get given stuff , but its not always easy to let go.
In my out building, its a very very big shed ,I want to clear a space to get my car under cover for the winter,so a lot more minimising is needed.
I have minimised some weight and hair.
Keep MMM ing

I am really proud of myself as for the last week and a half I have successfully made do with my food. I haven't spent any money on food for a week and a half.

3 face masks done in total, using scrap fabric - including some patchwork squares for the filter pocket which I bought years ago! Also the elastic is from a tent pole that died.
Minimised 10 lbs crabapples to a friend for wine making, he'll be getting another 10 lbs damsons next week! We have an awful lot of damson jam, I even made damson cheese with the huge harvest we got this year.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

I mended a pair of jeans today. They are my husband's, even better, they now fit him because he has lost some weight. I'm going to use some left over bits of jersey to make myself some comfy knickers. We all need comfy knickers some days. I'm also knitting myself a jumper. My knitting projects rarely turn out to be wearable so send me good fairy knitting vibes please 😂10
