Make do, Mend and Minimise in 2020

Morning MMMers,
I have been missing in action again but have now caught up with the posts and am now more invigorated in this pursuit.
We are currently in the progress of redecorating/rebuilding our main bedroom. This involved the emptying of a full wall wardrobe of clothes and stuff. This needed a full swap around in the house. Not much left the house it just moved to the loft and the purchase of 2 large clothes rails.there are some t shirts of mine that are coming to the end of their time and am ready with another batch to replace them...
Minimising - is slow but steady as garments from drawers and wardrobes are not being replaced. Winning at reducing the toiletries stack even hubby is onboard now and understands the new regime of using up.
Make do - we have been running the freezer down as you should. Today will be a stock take day as will be at a large cash & carry tomorrow with friends.
Mend - a bit hard at the moment, perhaps will count the building materials being put into their final place to make large steps in the back garden.
Enjoy the Indian summer peeps. Stay safe.

A make do from this week to report - I made veg stock from veg peelings I had been storing in the freezer and it was actually a success.

I've just mended two big shopping bags, the ones made from plastic tarpaulin type fabric, they rip quite easily when DH overloads them but some strong fabric inside and a whizz on the sewing machine and they will live a good bit longer. In fact right through lockdown I've been wearing my four favourite mended shirts as not seeing anyone so no point in wearing smart stuff. Last years shorts didn't fit but I found some old one's which I had taken in due to weight loss ! Unpicked the taking ins and hey presto, perfectly usable shorts, it's never hot for long!
Rather than buy a new settee we made do with one from family that they didn't want anymore .
I have been minimising my fabric stash by making masks, I started selling them and have made a really nice profit, sadly sales have dwindled now they are more available in the shops but am so pleased I seized the moment.
Also minimised all the donated woolly squares filling my spare room making blankets for homeless people. So happy to have finally got those out of the house ready to be used. I expect there will be lots more bits arriving soon to keep me busy but at least I have managed the 'backlog' that had happened somehow.
I was really proud of family members who have recently had a new baby and are using second hand cot, pram, clothes, just about everything, given by friends or picked up on freecycle. Little one looks just as smart as the other babies and hasn't cost parents or the earth nearly as much could have been!Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/210 -

Minimise - managed to get some items on the bay shop and they are slowly going out for a new life. Item a day still leaving the house. Sold some leftover bricks, back garden a little more tidier.
Make do - did an exchange of items with a small group of friends, we were all happy with the swaps.
Mend - not managed this one yet, there are items sat patiently waiting their turn. I just need to focus more.Anything is better than nothing-check back and see

I minimized some fabric by making 8 drawstring bags and 4 purses to go in Christmas shoeboxes.
DH has made do with his thick cardis. I'm on washing them to freshen them up for winter.
Haven't mended anything recently.2025 Fashion on the ration
