Gosh, your chap is a keeper! (And yes, I always wanted one of those jewel boxes, but never got one).
I bought the fabric for a skirt last year, used the coupons but still haven’t found time to cut it out. I could really do with it just now. A big charity event that I’m involved with will be over by the end of next week, and work is a bit quieter so I’m hoping to carve out some sewing time then. If nothing else gets in the way!Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.3 -
Well, I've bought one. The seller's relatively local to me & bought it to go to a wedding herself, which has been indefinitely postponed whilst the bride completes a tour of duty abroad. Round here that's totally believable! I know that even if it doesn't suit me, or something even better turns up, I'll be able to sell it for at least as much as I paid for it, so I'm happy - no coupons spent! But now I need to find a pink cardi, pink shoes & a pink bag... good job I've got 7 months run-up!
I love those little boxes & always buy them when I see them at jumble & car boot sales. They're usually pretty easy to clean up & return to full working order, but then I have to part with them again, on my stall; the one consolation is that that normally makes a little girl very happy!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)4 -
It's arrived & it's absolutely lovely; happy bunny! Though oddly I wouldn't want to lose any weight to wear it as it's just about a perfect fit on the top half at the moment, and quite loose lower down; I generally do drop some weight in spring & gain it again late autumn (just in the natural way of things, no effort on my part!) so if I see one a size down, I'll snap that up too. Need to firm up a bit though; the upper arms are definitely an issue just now. Time to get the little weights out! Though we're working on a Saiidi/stick dance at the moment & that will help, but only with one arm; I could practise with both, I suppose, but the ceiling does rather get in the way!Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

good morning everyone, I hope that the impending storm does not cause problems for you all.
I have spent time this week sorting through my yarn stash, a tiny drop in the ocean, but I have passed some lovely yarns (single balls mostly) to a friend from Knit N Natter who is a new knitter, but producing lots of lovely hats and fingerless gloves, in lovely colour combinations, also some circular needles (I have the KnitPro system) and some Harmony dps that I will never use again, she is delighted. A hank of the softest, most squishy lace weight merino has gone to one of the group's knitting gurus (designer and highly technical knitter), she is the only person I know in RL who gets how gorgeous it looks and feels, her face lit up.
In other news the lovely wool shop owner and her out knitter have finished my Rowan tunic and I absolutely love it, well worth the expense of paying to have it knitted up, may start a little savings pot to have another one made in a while. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I spent a couple more coupons yesterday - 5 on a sports top as I've still not found my one I like and really don't want to wear my day to day t-shirts to the gym all the time, so I'm down to 47.
The only other 'needs' I foresee are some nice socks! I seem to be throwing a lot of socks out at the moment, this may sound daft but I think primark sock quality has tanked, they used to be ok, but now they barely last me a season. Marks and spencers socks I find their ladies socks too big they keep slipping and twisting. I've just had a look and White Stuff do have some in their sale so I might splurge... unless anyone has any recommendations for nice longer lasting thin socks?
The other purhcase on my allowed list is some Dr Martens but we're saving up for those so might be a while yet.
Re the ebay BNWT I think the checking of the sold items it the only way to have any clue, but then you still can't be sure, I sold LOADS BNWT after my grandma died, especially mens shirts, my grandad had hundreds of the them still in packaging! My Gran had a fair bit too. My gran was a serial offender at "keeping things for best" even glasses! We'd go round and she'd ask us to read things, and we'd ask where her new glasses are and she would say "I've put them up for best" . But 'best' never came which is why I try not to heep anything for best! I only ever have one special occasion dress, I try and get something in a sale in a brand that I know I'll be able to sell on at a good price everything else can be dressed up or down to do multiple things and gets worn

I hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.

pixitotts - I am guilty of having dozens of pairs of socks, now retired I wear trousers/leggings/ankle boots/trainers much of the time, and I love cheerful socks (having worn plain back for years and years), I have made 3 purchases of Waitrose ones, live miles from a store, so bought when I happened be visiting a new area a few times. They are slim fitting, but have body IYSWIM and wash and dry well, keeping good colour. The only problem I find with lots of my socks if they are mainly cotton is that drying them on airers in the winter make them a little tighter and hard, so have gone back to using fabric softener in some wash loads. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Thanks for the tights-repairing advice, I'll just give it another try.
My socks are all from H&M and I would recommend them, I don't wear shoes around the house so I usually wear through the soles of socks but the current batch are holding up well.6 -
@pixtotts - I have just been looking for some thin socks with a bit of comfort. I found these on the M&S website - https://www.marksandspencer.com/2-pair-pack-blister-resist-ankle-high-socks/p/clp60221809?image=SD_02_T60_9834_Y0_X_EC_90&color=BLACK&prevPage=srp - two for £8 so not cheap but hopefully will last. I nearly pressed the purchase button on the website but then remembered its 2 coupons each. But I may need to bite the bullet and get them as my old socks are rubbish and keep falling down inside my footwear.OSWL (start 13st) by 30Jun20 6/10

@pixitotts, my longest lasting black socks - worn to death - are MrT’s cheapest, the Value ones which used to sell for 62p per two-pack. That’s how old they are.
@thriftwizard - the dress sounds lovely. Could you wear it with taupe shoes? At least you would be able to get more use out of them than pink shoes.
@maddiemay - glad you love the top. Care to model it and share a photo?
