Payday today! I haven't made any payments yet, just shuffled the bill money around. I'll probably look at it tomorrow.
I'm quite annoyed as our joint account has had the fee taken twice this month, and not sure why. I'll have to message to ask. It did take us overdrawn as I emptied the account yesterday, but luckily as long as I had paid the money in by 3.30 it was ok.
DH has had his first furlough pay today, and luckily, it doesn't look too bad. That's a relief for as long as that keeps coming in.
I'm trying to get a few more bits listed tonight."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee5 -

Morning everyone. Up this morning and paid all the bills and have shuffled a bit of money around towards my targets. It feels nice to see balances growing for once.
We've ordered a new porch canopy for our back door. The existing one is completely rotten. That will be a nice improvement when it arrives. DH has ventured to Asda to get some shopping for the neighbours and a few non food bits for us if they have them. I've been trying to set up our old laptop for little jwil. The battery is gone and it won't stay on for long on the power cord as it is presumably overheating. The debate is whether to try a new battery or to get a new laptop. It is missing a key and a bit battered so it is tempting to replace. It would of course impact on my payments though which should be my priority. We do have some points built up on our nectar card so could potentially use that. I think it's about £60 in value, so a decent amount. I'll keep trying to resolve it for a few days first before we decide.
Thank goodness it's Friday.
DH's listings all went on yesterday for 10 days. I'm setting up the next batch now.
I had a nice chat with a colleague this morning, it's nice to catch up. I've got a webinar to do later and a few other bits before the weekend. Better get on so I am not working too late today!
Have a good day everyone."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee6 -

How much easier would it be for him to keep up on school work if you do buy a new one? My eldest is the same age as yours I think and I bought a refurbished computer from Amazon with a warranty. Much cheaper and means I can see how much use it is without investing £400 and being devastated when they inevitably pour a drink on it. It's fine for our needs - purple mash. We couldn't do purple mash on the tablet. Plus they sit up a desk and feel more like they're working.
The house all sounds very encouraging. And money ready for a few improvements! Very impressive.
You're doing fantastically jwil. Keep going xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000

We bought DD a refurbished laptop from Am**** it was significantly lower priced than new (but still a lot) and came with a decent warrantyAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I did spend last night fiddling with it and googling some of the issues. The battery seems to have sorted itself out with a super long charge and a hard reset seems to have (touch wood) solved the turning off issue. There does seem to be a problem with a cooling fan, but that error message hasn't come up this morning so fingers crossed. DH picked up a new mouse for it, and I gave it a good blast with the air duster. Hopefully I can get it to keep going a bit longer and we'll see how it goes."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". We've had a fairly quiet day today. Just a bit of tidying and sorting.
Inspired by SH, I've done a PAD towards the mortgage, £1.68. It's been years since I've done it, so will try to keep it up."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee9
