You can only do what you can with kids home learning. I do think the pressure on kids now is way too high. They need to use this opportunity to scale back the pressure not increase it.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The school have sent around a lot more this time than in the first lockdown so there seems to be a lot more to do.

Thank you to everyone for your support. I really appreciate it.
It's been another tough day and my anxiety is through the roof. The kids will start having online lessons tomorrow, so hopefully that might take some of the pressure off a little. Hopefully after these start we'll have a better idea of what they expect.
In money news, I've still been doing the PADs, and of course I am saving on afterschool club and will eventually save on swimming (we already paid for this month). So there are some positives again.
DH has received a Covid test today for the Ipsos national survey. I did one a few months ago, and it's always interesting. I've been given the opportunity to have the lateral flow test at work, so I'm contemplating it. It's only to test a new service rather than because I'm at any risk. I'm just thinking maybe it would be good to get out of the house alone for a bit to be honest!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I take my hat off To all parents having to home school their children and even more so if have their own job to do aswell. I was just watching the news one mum had 6 kids and only one laptop, another wee boy had to do school work on his mums fone. I honestly never gave it a thought that there could a lot of kids in that situation and Im sure now there must be children who don’t have either of them. I do hope all the children get as much help as possible.Hope you can have a relaxing evening4

There are certainly people out there who have it a lot worse than us. We are lucky in that we've got a spare laptop so the kids can use that. The school have worked out the live lessons so that siblings in different year groups don't clash. Despite all my moaning, we have it good compared to a lot of people and I should be grateful about that. I know there are many families who are in very difficult situations.

Our school didnt give out that much in the first lockdown but have really ramped it up this time. A full school day of serious learning. I think it's as they have to demonstrate it to Ofsted and they have obviously seen the learning loss first hand from the first lockdown.
Dont be under to much pressure to do it all though its stressful enough as it is. Mine attended as keyworkers the first time and did no formal learning as the teachers were instructed to do distanced style childcare only. 2 out of 3 have already caught up in reading and writing and are absolutely fine. The 3rd was so far behind anyway with s and language difficulties that she never had a chance. She is doing well in her own way but is easily 18 months behind. In some ways she has probably benefited from the way schools have had to rethink there teaching since sept to include everyone.
The lateral flow test isnt too bad. Just have to circle it round your nostril as opposed to the other one which goes in your throat and up your nose.

I think that the pressure to have live lessons actually reinforces inequality rather than reducing it. A friend on my FB says she is struggling to get her DS join live lessons via her phone... He's only about 7. Other people are sharing laptops between multiple kids. My DD is lucky that she has her own kit but she finds the intensity of it hard and hates the format. My DD missed half of year 7 due to illness but caught up... It doesn't have to be the 'blight' people claim. I accept that it depends on your child though.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
