    Thank you :)

Our school didnt give out that much in the first lockdown  but have really ramped it up this time. A full school day of serious learning. I think it's as they have to demonstrate it to Ofsted and they have obviously seen the learning loss first hand from the first lockdown.
Dont be under to much pressure to do it all though its stressful enough as it is. Mine attended as keyworkers the first time and  did no formal learning as the teachers were instructed to do distanced style childcare only. 2 out of 3 have already caught up in reading and writing  and are absolutely fine. The 3rd was so far behind anyway with s and language difficulties that she never had a chance. She is doing well in her own way but is easily 18 months behind. In some ways she has probably  benefited from the way schools have had to rethink there teaching since sept to include everyone.
The lateral flow test isnt too bad. Just have to circle it round your nostril as opposed to the other one which goes in your throat and up your nose.

Thank you :)  Our school have really ramped it up this time as well.  I'm glad yours have caught up again, and that's great that they are changing the way they work with your third as well.

I didn't manage to get the lateral flow test as the slots were all gone.  However, it's looking icy so I'm glad I won't have to travel now.  That's reassuring that it's not down the throat, I struggled with that!

I think that the pressure to have live lessons actually reinforces inequality rather than reducing it. A friend on my FB says she is struggling to get her DS join live lessons via her phone... He's only about 7. Other people are sharing laptops between multiple kids. My DD is lucky that she has her own kit but she finds the intensity of it hard and hates the format. My DD missed half of year 7 due to illness but caught up... It doesn't have to be the 'blight' people claim. I accept that it depends on your child though.

I agree.  We had the first lesson today, and there are some trying to access on phones, tablets, laptops, no one's got a clue what they are doing, they can all see different things.  No one knows how to find and complete the work (and I use Teams at work!).  Even the teachers clearly don't have a clue.  It's not a criticism of them in the slightest - they had zero warning to set this up and give parents assistance with figuring it all out.  At least school here have allocated an hour to each year so that siblings sharing a computer don't clash with their live lessons, but there is still the issue of completing work.

I'd prefer them to have workbooks or worksheets - even if it meant I had to scan and submit them.  I can't really leave them with the computer as otherwise it's constant coming back to problem solve.  DH is computer illiterate so can't help.

Well today hasn't been quite as bad anxiety wise.  I'm still not getting much in the way of work done, so that will be problematic.  I'm hoping that it will start to settle down a bit next week.

Little miss loved her 'meeting' and is very enthusiastic about her work.  The teacher said they are obliged to put 3 hours of work on, but just do what we can, so that's a relief.

Little jwil enjoyed seeing some of his friends, but it was difficult with two classes and a whole lot of parents trying to figure out how to do everything.  I think they will be expected to do everything, but hopefully it will be a bit easier when we get it all figured out.

I've done my PADs today and paid a bit extra to the mortgage as well.  Not much else to report as I seem to be glued to a screen one way or another all day!

I think at least this is a fairly universal problem. Things will settle back down - the next couple of weeks are likely to be the worst and then hopefully the schooling situation will improve. Hugs in the meantime as I know from colleagues how disheartening it can be and how intrusive into the work day. My DD is older but it still impacts me

Yes, I think a lot of people are struggling more this time.  I know some of my friends who are NHS workers are struggling to get places in schools for their kids, so it's not easier on that side either.

I hope everyone is well.  It's been a really tough day again today, and I've been so stressed.  I've got work chasing things that haven't been done, and trying to sort submitting school work.  I've been on the verge of jacking it all in!

I'm going to have to quit on the school work next week, aside of ensuring they are on for their live lessons. I really have to get on with my work.  If necessary I'll pop them in front of the tv to watch the BBC lessons, or I'll try and print out what I can from their school work so I can scan it in later.  Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on a few things and then get back to helping them properly again.

Anyway it's Friday night, and I am going to forget about it for the weekend.  I'm going to try and have a break from screens as much as possible this weekend.  I haven't left the house all week, so a bit of fresh air is desperately needed as well.

Today I have done my PADs.  I was up super early again, so have also set up Premium bond accounts for the kids and paid in £50 each from the ebay sales.

Fab that you've been able to save some £. It sounds like you are trying too hard on the schooling. No-one can do everything so be kinder to yourself.

Thank you.   Everyone else seems to manage ok, but then I guess the people who are struggling don't tend to post!
