Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

Taps terrify me. It is physics and potential disaster) - but probably terribly logical (again, not my strong point) as long as you have washers of the right size or some plumbers mate - and why are there so many different sizes of taps???#clapforboris sounds like a medical diagnosis of infidelity.
I miss the green vomit emoji right now.

Well it sounds as though you have got a lot done after all CCL. I tackled the dining room today, or most of it. I won't be clapping for Boris, but I do wish him a complete and speedy recovery.

Wow, CCL. You see what you can achieve if you feel like having a bit of a push! Taps..... that's brave. Though having said that, I've never tried to change a tap nor had a look at how the task is done. It might be fairly logical once you've seen how all the parts fit together.
I won't be clapping for Johnson. I wish him a full recovery, as I wish for absolutely everyone else afflicted by this truly horrible virus, whoever they are.
But his damaging political ideology & that of his cronies goes against everything I hold dear & that is the simple truth of it.

P. S I'd do the gloss first as I don't like doing it, but I guess there's also something to be said for getting the biggest parts of the job out of the way first.

It's easier to wipe emulsion off gloss than it is gloss off emulsion so gloss first. All that clutter used to be money10

I also concur with gloss first.
if you do try doing the taps, make sure the water is definitely 100% off with no pressure trapped- Mortgage: 1st one down, 2nd also busted

Regards the weeds and a cat friendly solution my DH started a few years back using a freshly boiled kettle to target a number of weeds at a time, leaving them a day or two to die back then they're easier to remove. Bonus being I get a cuppa which brews whilst he's in the garden.Groceries: Personal Spend: 0 NST NSD Goals for 2025:Self: Health: Wealth :13

If you any of want to know why the NHS is struggling with supplies just google exercise Cygnus. The government that buried this was led by Theresa May, Philip Hammond (chancellor) and Jeremy Hunt as minister for health. (Boris was foreign secretary). The exercise was carried out under the Cameron goverment.

Morning all
I'm starting to recognise the pattern now. I just wake up every day feeling a bit meh and it takes me ages and at least two cups of tea to pull myself round. Before that everything just feels a bit rubbish and hopeless. Got an email from the exam board last night saying that it's unlikely that we're going to get any money this summer - we don't seem to fit into any of the schemes that the government have offered to make up lost money... it's devastating but really not unexpected. Although it's news that has gone down like a lead balloon with the rest of the exam community so I expect there will be some backlash coming there. I rely very heavily on the money I earn from my exam marking so whilst I might be saving a little in terms of petrol, it's not going to make up for what I'm losing over the summer. And try as I might, I can't see there being a massive uptake in the exam offering in my subject in September. I suppose it's an ever changing situation though, and there's nothing I can do about it at all so I need to let go of it. If it comes to it then I will start my own DMP again - I've done it before and survived and can do so again.
I think I'm going to walk on my own today - the kids are in a bit of rebellion about being forced to walk at all and I quite like to use the full hour if I can. DD said she felt much better for having spent a couple of hours in the garden yesterday so I'm happy enough for the short term mental-health wise if the pair of them spend a bit of time out in the garden at some point today while the weather is nice. Plus I might quite like the time to myself for a bit of thinking and quiet reflection, and planning.
Thanks for the advice about the painting - gloss seems to have it. I will consider whether or not I'm up for the idea of painting today, but I easily have as much gloss work as wall painting to do. Then I will need to keep the cats away from the bathroom which will be a hilarious job in itself. I googled some videos of replacing taps last night and I don't think that's a good place to start to be honest - it looks difficult and not for a beginner like me. What I have decided to do instead when I get the opportunity is more sealing of stuff. After my hilarious attempts with the bath - I have noticed some bits of windowsills needing some resealing so I'm going to have a go at that. When I can get the stuff. I feel like I could do an ok ish job there.
Other than that I'm still going to have a couple of hours of school work with me and the kids - just to have us stay in that routine.

Hope you have a good day CCL. Sometimes a walk on your own can help clear or focus your mind. I’m doing just a walk a week with the elderly lurcher but no children just to do that.
I had a headline flash in on my phone today about keeping cats indoors. No idea about the rationale but wondered if you’d seen it.
I have an online meeting today...not quite sure how that will work with children here🤔.paydbx2025 #26 £890/£5000 . Mortgage start £148k June 23 - now £138k.

There is a theory that cats can transmit the virus - a tiger has been diagnosed with Covid 19 in the USA, and cats in China have been shown to carry it.
The hilarity of trying to keep outdoor cats indoors is not lost on me... especially not in the nice weather.
