Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 4 - The Aftermath

Then I will hope for another UK summer like 1976 for you all. It doesn't matter to me, I shall be pastey white hiding under my rock, sneezing, and you can all be out in your gardens on sun loungers teaching the kids mixology and having 6 people maximum house parties and themed barbecues. Maybe Sangria will make a comeback? as long as flares don't.

I'm genuinely not bothered whether or not we get away for summer. I'm more annoyed about finding the money for it now and having to wait months to get it back. Still, I suppose that's how it goes at the moment - anything goes - and I am lucky in that I still have a job and am still getting paid for it so I will not complain.
Another day then... I woke up feeling reasonably good this morning but having sat for a bit I'm not sure how good I'm actually feeling. My hay fever feels pretty bad this morning, and I still haven't had my second cuppa of the day so I am sure I'll feel better after that. I've already decided I'm going to do a couple of hours of schoolwork and the kids will do half an hour each. I know it's Easter hols but we still need a bit of routine - apart from that who knows? The bathroom decorating is still needing done - maybe I'll get as far as putting the masking tape on today? Small steps and all thatI will make sure that I get out for the daily walk, but I am now getting towards the house and garden jobs that I really, really don't fancy. Still - as you've all said, everyone can do 15-20 minutes.
One thing I have learned from lockdown is that I am definitely not a morning person...

Hope your second cuppa does the trick CCL. I don't fancy my house jobs either - the garden is pretty much up together at the moment as I actually like doing that.

Nobody fancies housework, CCL. Even us domesticated-sounding types really only like the nicer creative jobs on the home front.....for me growing food, creating attractive flower borders, cooking, baking, arranging all my bits & bobs for a bit of a spend-free new look, re-organising things, planning new colour schemes for decorating, home crafting, preserving etc.
I am only ever motivated to do routine housework for two reasons....1) Because I find it more annoying to sit looking at a mess than actually dealing with it .....and 2) As means to an end....as in if I get the tedious jobs out of the way good & early, I'll have time to spend on the stuff I enjoy doing.
I can assure you that not feeling motivated by housework is entirely normal!

Holy cr a pola - so Boris is in intensive care. Had a feeling when nobody said they'd heard from him today.
Bet Trump has something hilarious to say about this later on.
Now I'm a very long way from being a Tory fan but I really do hope he's on the mend very soon.
In my own first world problems I have had a headache for two days now. Not horrific, just constantly niggling. Walking every day. Getting out and about, keeping busy. Not sure what's causing it, but the paracetamol are not doing the trick...

I too have very different political leanings and detest what the T*ries have done to the disabled, mentally unwell, unemployed, social care, the Windrush people, the NHS etc, but really hope that the PM makes a good recovery. The government certainly don't have an easy job at the moment - the cynic in me suggests that it is made even more difficult by the ideological running down of the public realm generally, and the loss of NHS staff and many /all of the other pressing issues facing the country being sidelined due to Bre*it can't help either, but governments everywhere are struggling to know what to do for the best in the current crisis. And I wouldn't wish this horrible disease on anyone. I didn't think he looked at all well in TV appearances recently, and doubted the wisdom of his reportedly trying to do his job rather than taking time off to recover. Hoping to avoid spooking the markets further I imagine. Hope he is better soon.

I try to avoid anything too political if I can help it because I still think that we're a democracy so we get what we vote for - people that know me know how strongly I feel about austerity and cutbacks that have happened over the past 10 years or so. However, I've seen such a wide ranging range of views on my fakeb00k page I'm almost shocked - from 'clap for Boris' (no) to wishing him dead (also no). I strongly dislike the man as I dislike almost all politicians but still wouldn't wish it on anyone. I wish him well and hope he recovers, and I hope that once all of this is over that a lot of lessons have been learnt by those in charge, but I won't hold my breath. Ah well.
I've done very little today. Very little indeed. Got up, had a cuppa, watched telly, went for a walk with ds, came home, sat in the garden, read a book. Not even really done any of the pottering about the house jobs and I haven't been online yet until now either - how incredibly lazy of me. One thing I did notice though in the garden is that the grass looks about ready to cut. That means one of the kids will have to do it because I'm going to draw the line somewhere as to what I will be doing - and no, I still haven't started on decorating the bathroom. However, I'm not going to give myself too much of a hard time about it simply because I think it's ok to have an occasional day of doing nothing as long as it doesn't become a habit. I've done the bare minimum - washing, hoovering, dishes, rubbish out etc. That will do. Might have a big old crochet evening now...
In fact no! I'm going to go upstairs right now, this minute and wash the ceiling and top of the walls in the bathroom. So there...
Service shall resume shortly.

Right, the whole of the bathroom walls and ceiling have been washed. The lampshade has been taken down and washed, and the blind has been taken down - probably to be binned if I'm honest, I don't think I need a blind in there.
Next I need to decide whether to do gloss or emulsion first. And I need to utoob a couple of things that I need to have a go at fixing about the house. Not that I want to do it, but I have to do it.
Wonder if I would be brave enough to attempt to change taps?
