  • Hello :hello:
And Happy New Year to each and every one of you _party__party_ I hope 2020 brings you lots of health, wealth and happiness (as my dad says). Thanks to everyone that's followed me over from Chapter 3, and hello to any new folk reading. I wish I could put into words how grateful I am to have so much support from so many of you - but it just always sounds really cheesy or not enough. Please know though, that it means the world to me.
TreadingWater - I'm not going to lie, my divorce and separation has been particularly troublesome. I often think that one day I'll sit down and write a bestselling book all about my experiences with my ex husband (it may clear some of the debt) but I have no real grasp of writing at all. However, the divorce itself was very straightforward - and if that's all you have to do and you're both agreed with what's happening then it's quick and only a few hundred pounds. My ex husband has disappeared off the planet, which has led to problems with sorting out our 'joint' assets like the house and the pensions. I've been back and forward to court numerous times since May last year with no luck but I am hoping that I might get some real progress next week. Good luck with your divorce.
And so 2020 begins... as it always does for me, with a catch up over lunch with one of my best friends. We used to go to hers, but she's been ill over the past few years so we now just have a pub lunch. I didn't stay up late last night, or drink either, so although I had a bit of a lie in, I was good to go. I still had 2 rounds of the blanket left to do but it is now finished and gifted to said friend then me and ds headed off at lunchtime (dd had a better offer from her best friend so went out and did her own thing). I was quite saintly in my food choices so not feeling too bad about that either. It's always lovely to see her - but I do worry about her health, and her being so far away from me and being on her own with the kids. However, we do each other the world of good when we're together - and I always feel much better when I've seen her.
Home now - and back to putting my feet up in front of the telly. I've got a plan of crochet patterns for the year ahead so I'm going to make a start on those I think. It's going to be a busy crafting year for sure. I'm not going to think about budget until I've checked online with the bank tomorrow to make sure that everything goes as I expect it to and there's nothing nasty or forgotten about in there.
Have a good evening all - there's some good telly on tonight so I'm going to enjoy that :D

  • Bank balance is dire but not unexpected. The rest of January is about survival and seeing if and where I can make any further cutbacks. That, and hoping that my legal ordeals are almost over. I have some exam marking coming up later in the month which will be helpful but I won't see the money for that until towards the end of February. Things will be fine if I just stay quiet and keep my head down and focus. And January is an excellent time for focus :D The freezers and cupboards are full, kids are entertained with Christmas gifts so need nothing - just batten down and survive. Easy - I've done it before and I will do it again.
Today, onwards with crafting, relaxing and box sets. The blimming holidays are almost over again already. I've just also remembered that the Christmas tree needs to go away - I'll do that today and will feel better once there's a bit more room in my tiny house again. I'll just wait for the kids to show their faces before I do it so that I'm not disturbing them scratching about in the loft for the boxes. Also I can't keep ignoring the state of the house - I really need to hoover through and do some washing. It's a hectic life eh?:rotfl:
