I don't think the time spent asleep is wasted CCL, you obviously needed it. I'm sleeping Saturday afternoons, I need it so I so.
Not sure how near any convenience store is but maybe you could take a quick walk there for whatever you need? I made myself walk today, not far, and I felt better for it. I seem to need a purpose - today dropping baking off on a friend.8 -

Good idea peb - Herr Liddle is within easy walking distance so I should probably do that. I always feel better if I go out even if I'm still not well. It's pittling with rain today as well, but nice temperature and I quite like a walk in the rain. If I'm up to it - I'm still not very well. I was in bed and asleep not long after 10pm last night and my tummy felt very unsettled - I thought pre work anxiety. But nope - tummy bug has now fully arrived. I was up three times during the night and by the third time the headache had come back as well. It's been a struggle to get up this morning for sure, but managed to get ds into his registration session in time. I've spoken to my head of department about being sick - he's said not to officially ring in as all of the work is done for today and he'll get in touch if anything urgent comes up. I'll check in with emails as and when I feel up to it, but I'm not up to much other than lying about feeling sorry for myself. Trying to stay hydrated - I've just had a cup of tea but I really daren't risk anything else at all. I've washed last night's leftover dishes, put the rubbish and recycling out and sorted the cats. Now catching up on here and checking a first round of emails. Sounds like ds might have gone back to sleep - I don't mind as long as he gets some work done longer term. Particularly as they're certainly going back to school in a couple of weeks.

Well, yesterday ended up being a bit of a write off in terms of anything productive. I got the essentials of school work done, napped, and finally got round to a bit of food prep and cooking (did roast pork dinner, sweet potato satay curry, more carrot cake porridge and a loaf of banana bread) - so I have plenty of decent food to get me through. Unfortunately I didn't manage to eat any of it apart from porridge and a bit of banana bread yesterday. Good thing is that there's loads of food for today. I feel like I have a really empty tummy this morning but still a bit scared to try anything too much. Headache is still niggling but I suspect that may be related to dehydration and poor nutrition yesterday.
Today's lessons are up - uptake from kids is lower than ever, but I am now starting to get panicky emails from students that have done nothing over lockdown who are now fretting about school. I imagine them all to be like my ds - too lazy to bother and now looking for a quick way out. I am quite limited on sympathy - sounds harsh but I've done my job as required this year, and if they have chosen not to engage then I don't get paid overtime to catch them up. There has to come a point where they take responsibility for themselves. I appreciate that we're all struggling and things are tough, but own the fact that you've done nothing and either accept the failure or go back and look at it.
Anyway - I've been online for a couple of hours and I think that it's time for a break now. I feel ready for a nap...

I have had 3 emails so far yesterday to tell me the kids have missed lessons that I know full well they were in (biology - health benefits of maggots - DS2 put his smaller brothers off their supper) So he was there, and learning. They have all the GCSE revision books for every subject they chose, but like you, I can give them all the things they need, but I cannot and will not do it for them. It is frustrating for you, for the parents, and hopefully when you get them back in the classroom they will have found the motivation to actually be active learners for the last 5 months of term. Although with no 'formal' exam at the end I am not sure how that will work.Unless you test the heck out of them weekly - which I would be in favour of - Listen carefully class, there will be a quiz!Feel better soon.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!
