Thought I had posted again about being vindicated - either I'm going mad or it's been deleted. No notification though! Hey ho...0

This laptop seems to be running on a Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset, which is notoriously difficult to work with during Windows 10 upgrades from Windows 7.
Thanks - surprising. So the Windows 8, 7, Vista drivers don't work?
We still don't know exactly which G72 we're talking about, unless I missed it. We could be dealing with just Intel graphics, or adding in ATI ones.0 -
I know they have stopped support but I am sticking with Win7, I installed Win 10 as a dual boot but never use it, I hate it, only use it on media centre PC now. I notice every time it does an upgrade it deletes my privacy settings and asks me again and between updates it deletes my preferences not to use crappy MS apps and keeps trying to force me to use them. Win10 makes my machine slower, the interface is dire, they have ripped out parts of account management so they can spy on you online and the whole OS is an advertising platform.
