    Happy new diary!

Don't forget things like the 1p a day / 52 weeks savings challenges, or the move everything 99p and under to a dedicated savings account :)

I'm sure you will smash through your goals x

Love the goals, good luck with them :)

  • Great goals. I definitely need to focus on some self care.
  • That's a lot of spring cleaning! I thought I had done well just to unpack and pack the dishwasher!

I am suitably tired, but glad to have a clean slate house-wise :rotfl: I am envious of you having a dishwasher, though!

Yes I'll probably do a midweek under 99p transfer on top of the VSP on a Friday :)

    Thank you :D:D
  • Morning everyone :hello:

After failing to work out how my pension contribution was 5% of any of the figures on my payslip, the kind folk on the pensions board helped me work out that

    a) I have a naff pension

    and

    b) I can increase my contribution to 10% once I've finished overpaying tax to not notice that I am overpaying if that makes sense, as I'm used to the wage I have now so moving the extra money to my pension each month this way means I won't miss it.

I enjoyed my visit to my nan yesterday, whilst I was there my great aunt and her husband also popped in, and so did my brother once they had gone, so I got to see more family than expected :D

Tonight I will be visiting a friend's house for dinner and having a catch up with them. Not a bad start to the new year at all :)

Equally, I have managed to stick to my calorie target every day this week, and squeezed in quick little bits of exercise where possible. Saturday morning I am planning on getting up and going to the gym for some cycling/cross training, and on Sunday I have told OH we need to take the kids swimming like we used to for a while. It's only a couple of quid to cover their entry as we get it with our gym memberships, and they love it.

I'm wishing the time away for my appointment/assessment on Monday, fingers crossed it is the turning point after two long years :j

Hope everyone's year has got off to a great start so far :D x

Brilliant move on the pension, SSDD23 - a great many people overlook pensions, at least earlier in life, and even later don't pay enough attention to what is being saved into them and how it is invested. But they are invaluable and very tax-friendly, and will grow fairly quickly over time. So great stuff :)

Good to hear your nan enjoyed your visit - it sounds like a really positive time was had by all :)

    Thank you cathybird :)

I think it's mostly as OH is quite a few years older and is discussing his pension quite a bit as his company pension is VERY good, that got me wanting to start increasing my contributions - it just helped that I'd soon be getting more of my actual wages in April, but can manage quite easily on what I get now :)
  • Happy new year and happy new shiny diary SSDD :D
