I used up my amazon gift card credit from a faulty item being returned and bought a sad lamp - it might make getting up easier. i can't leave the work premises for lunch so natural light is a bit limited for me. I bought a slim bum bag for storing keys when in the gym and walking.
i put a weighted blanket - 8 kg on the bed and honestly, it feels so cosy. The last few nights I have tossed the duvet from my back and the cold did not help. I am hoping that sleep improves. Sometimes the beauty sleep needs a bit of help.4 -
@candygirl - interesting comment, everything that I have read so far on the Pfizer vaccine states the the vaccine in synthetic and that no mammalian cells are involved. This BBC report confirms this. HTH

MADDIEMAY, I dont know what to believe about the vaccine tbh.The video was someone going through each ingredient, on the vaccine packaging, which seemed quite alarming .I'm still undecided about having it at the moment
SFT let me know how you get on with your sad lamp.I got one last week, n I think it's helping a bit"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

savingfortomorrow said:I don't use social media a lot, I really only comment here- I guess shared mission of becoming more fab. I was an early user of facebook and when I noticed it going toxic and making me feel like everyone had a wonderful life when I could not afford a pint of milk - I got rid of it. Heavily curated images can lower self-esteem. I was the same with Instagram but it feels like everyone is hawking something- too commercialized and it does not help my spending, I prefer using youtube as I cook or clean, podcasts that inspire and give insight. the podcasts distract me from the cold and miles walked, transport me to a foreign soil; allowing me to walk further listening to someone's fascinating story,6

Three people I know have got Covid recently. None of them are very ill as they are all youngish and in good health. I can't wait to have the vaccine although I will be waiting ages, probably!

I'll just take the vaccine when it comes. I'm not particularly high up the pecking order and we don't know how long the immunity lasts yet so I'm not overly excited about it. Hope for the best though. 😊
I don't use social media much either. I have 3 favoured threads on here and browse and contribute a bit to others a bit when I have time. I don't do Facebook. I read Twitter but don't tweet myself. I dip in and out of YouTube and use Google all the time like a reference library but I don't think of them as social media.
I bought my DGD1 a weighted blanket for her Christmas present last year sft. She absolutely loves it. I remember buying it on click and collect from John Lewis and picked it up from our local Waitrose. I say 'picked it up', that was the hard part. I was surprised how heavy it was but, of course, the weight is more distributed when it's on the bed.
We're off to the NT property today. It's our local one which we know well but we go every year to see the house and grounds decorated for Christmas. I don't feel hugely fab as I didn't bother to style my hair today. It's damp here so I knew it would get ruined. Maybe I'll wear a hat! 🤣

Well the weighted blanket stayed on the bed, it does not move and so keeps heat. That alone helps.
I'm gonna be first up as allowed for the vaccine. I want to protect myself and others. It will be mentally freeing to not worry about passing it on. It will give so much more freedom.
I was meant to go to the gym but had to work late. It's not ideal as I prefer going in the mornings and really struggling to get up after this lockdown as early as i did before. Better to go a few days less like the Physio directed and maybe the delay was for the best.

Just a bit of info about the vaccines - one of our Profs at work who is on SAGE, and very experienced in HCID (highly contagious infectious diseases) gave our staff briefing couple of weeks ago, including info on the vaccines:
The Oxford vaccine has been tested on 43,000 people including him, is created using a virus which does not cause disease in humans that is modified to not replicate, that is used as a carrier virus to promote the immuno response.
The new technology BioNTech/Pfizer and Maderna vaccines use the RNA method used in cancer treatment that wraps the "active" bit in a lipid carrier so there is a cellular and antibody response (very simplified version). These carriers have already been used on "hundreds of thousands of people in at least 10 diseases" in patients from 1 week old to 90 years old and the vaccine has been tested on approx 30,000 people.
The development has been very quick because the work on carriers had already been done (taking 6-8 weeks for the RNA vaccines) and the regulators have now approved them after the ethically based consensual trials. The speed is mainly because there has been no need to apply for grant funding or wait for lab space or trial time as everything has been fully funded & accommodated.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thank you so much for that Floss, that is very helpful. There is so much misinformation out there and what we need is clear cut unbiased objective information, based on science and without the scaremongering, conspiracy theories and paranoia.I will have the vaccine and I will be guided by the NHS as to which is the most appropriate for me. I am in group 5 so I'm hoping I should get mine by about April/May, with a bit of luck maybe sooner.6

I bought a few more bits from Amazon. Incense sticks, dog toys, socks for my husband and vitamins. They were delivered early so I was glad I got up early to have a shower and get dressed this morning. I also ordered my Jack Russell two new coats from Etsy as she feels the cold. My other long haired dog is fine with cold weather. Holland & Barrett sent me a voucher so I bought some things from them too.
2021 needs to be the year I bring my spending back under control, I think!
I have online concerts on Saturday and Sunday nights and also a live YouTube event over the weekend so that is something to look forward to.
I don't know if I already said this but my husband shocked me by saying he was going vegan like me! It was out of the blue but very welcome. I had been looking forward to joining a local vegan group when I move house so now it means we can both go to meals out with them.Suddenly it feels like my life has turned a corner and I feel a lot more positive about everything.
I'm now listening to the second surprise album of 2020 that Taylor Swift brought out today. I wasn't remotely a fan of hers until I heard the album Folklore that she released earlier this year. This has been a strange year.
