Well I thought I was being clever.....I bought a hippo bag. Useless.. £5 down the drain. 😂🤣. Back to plan A and order a skip next week.You live and learn.......
Toys are real collectors items these days. My husband had an amazing toy car collection. His James Bond Aston Martin DB11 Was a big hit at the auction rooms. 😂. The other thing that went well was his fathers collection of 1950/60 motor sport magazines....the era of Sterling Moss. I was stunned at how much interest there was. You just never can tell. Even antiques go in and out of fashion.....Anyway I have had a frustrating pointless day...I've achieved little and I'm shattered with killer backache. It's very humid here, Think there's another storm brewing. You onLy have to move And you're bathed in sweat. (Sorry perspiration).
what's that old rhyme......."Horses sweat, gentlemen perspire and ladies glow". Well I'm glowing like no ones business...😂. Or, as we used to say in Glasgow, "sweats beltin oot me" 😂🤣
anyway I have given up......going to call it day. Just CBA now. Feet up, a nice healthy dinner and a movie. The house and garden can whistle. And I'm not ironing in this heat.Tomorrow is another day......😂4 -

I read today about someone who had every copy of the Argos catalogue since the 70s!🤣🤣🤣5

maman you can view past editions of the Argos catalogue here;

WARNING - it’s addictive. I remember some of them from my childhood.4 -
That's interesting chanie. To be fair, the guy who had collected them said he used them for social history as it shows changes over time. Although think the online version would take up less space. 😁4

For alot of things the value really increases if you had the original box and packing, leaflets etc. This is where my husband's patience comes in, in a charity shop/car boot/ online he will find a box of "bits" with something original to go with the item, I can't do it as I am defeated before I start. He will spend years with something in his head that he is looking for to complete something and it is amazing how often he will find it. The hoarder's mind perhaps.5

It must be a common trait with collectors pixie. My DH knows which maps he's trying to track down and often buys mixed lots where he's only interested in one of them. To be fair, he does then sell on the others. 🙂
What was the problem with the Hippo bag LL? Our plumber used one to dispose of the old bathroom suite and tiles and let me add stuff like an old ironing board. DH used one recently for stuff from the garage. I need to book another tip slot as we missed this week because DH was busy. If I let it lapse then we'll lose the impetus. ☹️4 -
Hippo bag isnt big enough. I’ve got some large items that just won’t fit. Old wooden window shutters, fence Panels, old garden chairs, carpet, some old rugs, large planters. Tbh I would struggle With tip runs. I doubt that I could get some of the items in the car. I spent two hours just trying to break up the fence panels, using a heavy lump hammer. Not good for my shoulder. That’s why I gave up and decided I would just go for a skip. More expensive but better than hurting myself.Anyway. In the end the day didn’t turn Out too badly. Not a total disaster. I Found a joiner who is prepared to do just a couple of little jobs. Very difficult sometimes to find tradespeople for just a couple of hours work. They want the big jobs. Just wish I could do them myself but I’m just not strong enough.Although I didn’t do a proper clean, just too tired, I’ve done a good tidy up so the house looks passable for now.It was nice to see the joiners reaction to my kitchen/diner revamp. He was impressed. 😀.That was the room That sold the house to me. It was dark, gloomy, none too clean (understatement - it was disgusting😂) and there was a silly half wall dividing the space. But it had potential.Even though I didn’t go the whole hog and replace the cabinets the revamp does look good. Even if I do say so myself. Just got to replace the cooker and do something clever with the floors.Getting there.5

Maman you see that is where it falls down with my husband, he might complete a set with one thing he gets from the box of stuff but then he wouldn't want to get rid of the rest and would start another (or even several other) collections. I shouldn't complain should I, he probably spent hundreds buying all this stuff and so far we have made £12k, we stopped selling in March as I didn't want to be going out with parcels or even have them collected so although I say we sold for a year it was more like 8 months. We need to start again as the stuff has to go. He won't sell everything but I am hoping it will be more manageable.
Do Hippo bags come in different sizes, just wondered as they seem a good idea.5
