Happy belated birthday SC!My NI contributions are so rubbish I have to go till 60... annoyingly I received the letter asking me to make up the voluntary contributions for the years I am lacking.... but because 26 years old me was an idiot, I chucked in the bin! I thought it was a waste of money (at the time I genuinely thought that by the time I retired there won’t be a state pension🤦♀️).3

Thanks CM! That's a bummer about the NI 🙁 Even a partial amount would be worth having though if you did decide to jump ship sooner - I'm on £109.87 a week at the moment, so another 14 years will only get me an extra £65.33 😮!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Obviously not advice, but you can register as self employed and voluntarily pay class 2 NI to get the credits for years that you are not working with you RE. Or if you have grandchildren that you mind while their parents work you can get NI credits for that.

Ooh, two very interesting ideas there! Don't think the grandchildren one will be a goer though, not planning on having any kids 😮! Would be useful for my Mum though, if my step-sister ever moves down xMortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Just been screened out for not having a second home 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️ If I could afford to run two houses I wouldn't be doing surveys for extra pennies!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Cheapskate...😆
That seems a very specific survey, I don't know anyone who has a second home, second bedroom, yes, home no...
Wonder what the questions were like?
If it's not adding up, compound it!2 -
