Oh dear SC! I was going to throw my hat in the ring and tell you I'd made £5k doing MB last year but I think you will make the right decision for yourself!

I do also second the Team Profit recommendation though for anyone who *is* thinking of giving it a try... You don't have to be good at MATHS necessarily, but you do have to pay careful attention to the mumbers... 😮
  • You could try Team Casino, no real maths calculations, just game playing.  The freebies are well worth it.  They do a 10 day trial for £1, so you'd not really be loosing anything trying x

Thanks both! I might give it some thought....

In the meantime, my car insurance renewal has arrived, so that's a fun job for the weekend after next. I genuinely have no idea what to put for my mileage 🤔! Not sure it really makes too much difference though TBH, think as long as you're in between the "mileage too low, you're next getting enough driving experience, you might crash" and the "mileage quite high, if you're doing that much driving you're more likely to crash/get hit" points then they tend to be satisfied.

On the subject of mileage, my car is due to go back in March next year (it's a contract hire), but is currently 11k below where the mileage should be at this point (I was well over until the start of the pandemic 🤣). I'll be sad to see it go as I really like it, so have emailed the lease company and asked a) if I can keep it for another year (which would defer having to shell out for a new deposit); or b) if I can reduce the contracted mileage by 10-15k. Don't think a will be a go-er, but their website suggests b is possible so fingers crossed. Car allowance rules for new company are somewhat slacker (as in, there don't seem to be any, other than the car needs to be taxed and roadworthy 🤣) so I might look into buying one next time instead of leasing. Anyway, need to see what the answer is to my questions first before I can get too far along with the thought process!

I usually put 6,000 miles a year on my insurance estimate which factors in a few trips to see parents plus a couple of trips to see my best friend in Lancashire or a weekend away somewhere (in a normal year).  Bit different to the 25,000 miles (at least) I was doing in my last job 😳

I was similar in my old job too - so much useless time when you can't do anything productive! When I get back to the office full-time it'll be just over 21k just to go there and back, so I guess I'm looking at 25k-ish total as there won't be anything near as much business mileage as in the old job, but will see if that comes out too horrifying and then maybe scale back to take into account Covid!

Snow all gone now and it's a balmy 2 degrees. Proving right the old saying "Take a picture, it'll last longer" 🤣!

  • I've been re-reading SuperSecretSquirrel's most excellent diary over the last few days. So inspiring! Lots of food for thought, and I feel all reinvigorated 😀

  • It turns out I've not heard from them since 26/01 - that's nearly two weeks now, after they told me they'd let me know the week before 🙁 It's worth nearly £3, so I'm not happy about missing out!
Update today is that they will get back to me this week. As I've a) heard this before; and b) they said that at 3.17pm on a Wednesday, I'm not exactly on the edge of my seat....🙄

Ooh, even we have snow today!

Not sure I'll be getting the sledge out just yet, but it's the most we've had for 3 years 🤣!
Gosh I wish we lived where you do! It was -7 this morning according to my weather app, and we've had far too much snow for my liking!!
