Good morning all!
So today is my diary-versary! It's hard to believe it's only been running for a year (and it's 174 pages already - sorry about that 😳!). Harder still to believe that the mortgage balance then was £32,978.14 and today it's £10,815.66!
Incidentally, it appears two of my recent OP's must have credited close enough together for the bank to count them as one and adjust my monthly payment, as it's now showing online as £61.90. Which sounds great, but what that actually means is much more of my payment is going towards the interest, as that hasn't changed and is still a percentage of the outstanding balance. This is what I had been trying to avoid! I'm waiting for a letter to confirm it, but no reason to doubt that the website is wrong - so I guess that's the "Pay down to £5k in 2021 and then start saving v Plough it all into the mortgage" question answered, as the standard payment in any months where I don't OP will only be taking c£38 off the balance 😮! OP it is, then! Anyone else broken their 2021 resolutions before the year has even started 🤔???
(Although what it does mean is that I can take a cheeky £1150 out of the EF and into the OP pot, as the money I need to pay my bills if SHTF again will be a lot lower 😀 - I'm now waiting impatiently for the letter!)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Don't forget plans D-Z... after this year you can never have too many plans! (as proven by the government!
)
Happy diary-versary though - it feels like you've been here much longer than a year - you're definitely part of the furniture now. Don't think that you can leave once you've paid off that measly mortgage!

Happy diary-versary!
Take it that was a planned resolution as we're not in 2021 yet?
So, not actually broken, just being remodeled...If it's not adding up, compound it!4 -
Happy diary-versary! I've enjoyed so much reading your diary and I agree with vix, no leaving once you've paid that mortgage off! ❤Mortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!6 -
Happy diaversary! Can you start paying off my mortgage once you've paid yours off?
You must be really proud of what you have accomplished, who cares if there's a little blip with the overpayments. Targets for 2021 will just need to work through the year as we have no idea what we will do this year.5 -
Happy-diaversary SC fantastic mortgage busting despite this horrible year.4
