I'm not talking about freezers - a third of mine is currently ice as there's something wrong with the door seal...
Well done on organizing your savings though! Knowledge is power and all that - makes sense that seeing it set out feels better. It's why I use YNAB - which I adore but won't recommend as t's not free! - does mean I don't have 12 savings accounts thoughI agree it's great when the bank lets you do as much fiddling as you want!

Starling lets you have separate pots in your current account - DH has just arranged all his bills into the separate pots and you do (currently) at least get a tiny bit of interest from them. But I wish savings accounts with the ‘best’ interest rates would let you do this - it makes you wonder why they don’t as I’m sure more people would put more money in if they could divvy it up.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Aah, interest 😍 I remember those days.... The reason I switched to Santander was the heady old days of the 3% interest on the 123 account. I was saving for my deposit and used to get a nice chunk every month (although about £7 was getting deducted in tax every month, as there was no tax-free allowance back then 😮) At that point, I did just keep it all in the one account, but with a breakdown (on paper!) written down at home. It would hurt my brain not knowing what was mine and what wasn't unless I was sat staring at my numbers though!
Just answered two consecutive surveys about banking - very yawn. I need £11.96 to hit the free money target this month, and have £10 coming from Shop & Scan on Monday, so I'm quietly confident I can manage the remaining £1.96 😀 I also didn't need the extra on the personal spends, as my old colleague kindly bought a bottle of wine for us to share (then revealed after it was mostly gone that they were topping me up with larger amounts than them as they were driving 😮 I walked home as it's literally a couple of streets, but 50% of that is steps - my lungs were on fire and still don't feel quite right this morning 😮!)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I've used YNAB before @Cheery_Daff a long time ago when you could get it free for 6 months and then pay like £5 a year. Realised that I'm better off with a few savings pots and then a spreadsheet to track it all.
I once went to a wedding where the guy-friend sitting next to me kept topping up my wine glass without me realising. Have no idea how much I drank but ended up disappearing after the meal and was found asleep outside under a tree quite a few hours later. Ah, now I definitely wasn't that bad! They were topping us both up at the same time, I just hadn't noticed I was getting much more - but at least there was only one bottle! Not good though, for someone who claims to have cut right down 😮 BF and I also shared a bottle (equally this time!) round the fire basket on Sunday evening, which was jolly nice and good fun but came after a can of cider, and I also had a can of cider on Friday evening 🤔 Still, MUCH better than before, when I frequently came home from work, opened a bottle of wine and plonked myself on the sofa with a glass while still wearing my coat and shoes - BF often asked me if I was planning on actually staying. And Friday nights would see so much vodka consumed that a 2l bottle of coke would be used as a mixer (although I do mix my drinks quite weak!) So I guess I should focus on the improvement 🤔
Just done ANOTHER survey about banking, plus one on Prolific that asked me to count how many times I was blinking while reading some information - some of which was flashing. My eyes now hurt - why am I doing this to myself??? Oh yeah, because I want to pay off the mortgage.... Current balance £18,008.80. Final OP (for now) of £700 is being sent off tomorrow 😀Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I'm such a wally - I will NOT be making an OP of £700 tomorrow, as I don't have that much money available since I split it all out the other day 🤣 (planned OP's were reduced at the expense of having more months of living costs remaining). On the bright side, however, that means the free money target is £21 lower as I won't be paying an ERC on the £700 as I'm not sending it, so I have already smashed this month's target and have moved on to reducing my "debts to self" 😀!
Phew, that was complicated! I am going to mentally re-frame my complex accounting system as "Keeping my mind active while I am not working" - that way it feels like there is a reason for it!!!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I blink and miss all the ice cream talk.
How do you read and count your blinks at the same time?4 -

I just read my weekly newsletter from a veg box scheme. Apparently kale is about to come into season. Made me think of you! Should be plenty in the shops.2025 decluttering: 4,019 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟

Noooo, I have no more capacity!!!
I'm at BF's this evening and hilariously found myself wistfully looking out of the window at the remaining fruit on the apple trees earlier. For a start I have no chance of reaching them without bringing my stepladder over, and secondly I have no room for them 🙄! Still not been able to do the couscous and roasted veg as I can't fit in the extra portions - mushrooms still looking OK fortunately 🥳Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
