Knowing the way your mind works, I'm not entirely sure I do, Caz 🤣!
No room for growing at all I'm afraid kaycastle, I'm in a flat without a balcony and we're not allowed windowboxes! There is a whole load of lawn all the way around the buildings, but the mafia that run the place would probably take a dim view of me turning my share over to veg cultivation - which is a shame really, as most of them are of the generation that have downsized to come here, and with 50 flats it could be a nice community project 🙁 It would also mean the mowing could be done more quickly, which now I'm home all the time I've noticed appears to take an entire day!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Is there a residents' association or something similar? Just wondering whether you could make a proposal and see if there's enough shared interest that it could become a thing?Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

I've just done the exact same survey within the space of about 10 minutes, once for Panelbase and then for Qmee. Slightly miffed that one gave me 30p and the other only 17p!
Absolutely glorious here this morning. Went for a walk first thing (first time for 5 days, whoops) and the sea was like glass, but I couldn't admire it as the sun was so dazzling on it! Pretty nippy though, was very nice to come back in to a warm flat now the mafia have decided to turn the heating on (it's included as part of the £150/month service charge, so I'm afraid I use it with gay abandon once it gets switched on - better for my asthma too, as I'd just be coughing continuously if it was cold). I feel like I should be doing something productive with my day, but for now I'm quite happy with lounging around 😀!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Your heating is effectively controlled by the managing company? Honestly did not know that was a thing for residential properties, I know my work's office's heating is controlled by the office next door. That's just because they put up a partition wall and forgot about the heating issue.5

And there was me thinking that the NHS heating plan was ridiculous - basically it goes on for 6 months of the year and off for the other 6 months so you always end up with days when it's ridiculously hot because it's warm outside and the heating is still on and then days when it's freezing and the heating isn't scheduled to come on yet.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20175

Yep 🙄 It's a communal boiler, so if it's on for one it's on for all and I have no control of whether it's on or off. All I can do is turn it up and down, but it has to be on first! The days it's on it runs from 6.30am-10.30pm, then you have to get into bed sharpish before it gets cold! When I got home from BF's an hour or so ago it was on, now it seems to have gone off, so we're clearly still in the penny-pinching phase where they're switching it on and off (the Chair claims they don't turn it on and off, that there is a thermostat in their flat which controls it, but even if that's true they're on the 4th floor and hot air rises - meanwhile those of us on the ground floor have to lump it!)Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

I am in a sulk with Sainsbury's. I checked the Nectar app before I went in and it said I had over £5 of points, so I picked up £5.26-worth of stuff, but then the self-checkout said I only had £2.50 available 😠! It was all stuff I needed, so not money wasted, but it wasn't stuff I needed today! I checked the app again when I got back to the car to make sure I wasn't going mad, as I've not been feeling 100% the last couple of days, but it definitely still said £5.85 - plus they had the cheek to thank me for shopping and offer me a scratchcard! I did think about going to the customer service desk to moan about it, but I didn't think I could take the shame of asking for my £2.50 back! Oh well, it'll be there to start off the October free money anyway....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

OMG, after over a week with nothing I could do on Streetbees, I've just done 10 (😱) in a row! I've sent them photos of everything, from deodorant to toothpaste to shampoo - even one of my bedroom, which was pretty excruciating. At least they gave me the option of telling them I was planning to make improvements to it 🤣!
I'd better get on with a walk now, before I manage to talk myself out of it completely....Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
