@mark55man I've got an older member of staff (55ish) who has just moved from a full time role within my company to a part time one over 3 days per week. Idk seems a bit odd to me but we'll make it work.

that's a really helpful attitude for your differently young staff - but in my world 55 is genuinely a younger member of staff

    Reporting back for Feb 22

Boring - everything on budget (plus or minus a little), except Holiday spends were double predicted

In explanation, we decided as we had missed last year that we would do twice as much - 2x pasties, 2x eating out and 2x ice creams).  It was tough work but we managed, and the local economy got the boost it missed last year.  Although that said, UK Holidays are having a little boom at the moment so good for them

If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

busy week at work - quite lot of travel but no fuel availability problems.  stayed over in a nice pub with a couple of rooms at my furthest office.  nice dinner on expenses nobby-no-mates style - then a fabby Dorset breakfast (didn't know there was such a thing, and it looked a lot like a full English but it certainly floated my boat.  Petrol and lodging covered by work, but really difficult for many at the moment who have self funded commutes

Building work finished, just some tidying up, and our builder's other contract that was cancelled before that gave us the benefit of his services is  still slipping so we might just bite the bullet and get him to some handyman type jobs next week that I should probably do, but he will do quicker and better

I am now at the point I have the money to do stuff, but because of watching  Nick bl00dy Knowles I am terrified of contacting anyone. I am annoying myself. I could probably have the roof and top 2 floors sorted and carpeted and still have money left over to fix half the ground floor.  But I am nearly immobilised by fear.
So if you have the money to do it, and a builder that is not clinically or criminally insane, then get the jobs done and off the list, and use the time you would have used trying to get it perfect (or stood in the middle of the diy store looking for the right sized attachment ) to have an ice cream on a new-to-you pier.
    You deserve it.

getting the order right is the thing!! - probably easier to find a person to do the carpets but I don't think I would before the roof was done.  I don't envy you that as roofers do seem to have a riper reputation than many trades.  That said word of mouth must be of some benefit for a well connected family.

our new thing is finding trades who were at school with our kids - which is a bit bizarre when all you can remember them is as 10yo.
