Up bright and early this morning to get our holiday stuff packed up into the car then into our local cafe for a final breakfast and wonder along the shops.  It was a biting wind so we didn't dally (obligatory ice cream on the harbour excepted)

Who knew West Cornwall has its own petrol crisis although the station we stopped at only had the one we needed so that worked for us, although I only took enough for the journey with a margin for error

safely home with no traffic hiccups, but got home to find the heating had turned off again so the home alone kids had been a touch cold!!  that's fixed now as well

Glad you fixed the heating. Sounds like a lovely time away. Glad you got fuel

In other news - my worry about the stupid tax I thought I was going to have to pay (as a result of a mistake with the tax people) has been resolved with me owing £0.00 instead of £1200.  I managed to get them to withdraw the need for me to have done the form that they were charging penalties on, so yay

In other other news, back to work today - plus workmen are back in and I hope they can fix the annoying drip/leak they left us with on Friday poor DS coming down on Sat morning and finding a bit of a puddle in the hall - so we have been without hot water although the heating is working so not cold just less than 100% fresh!!

woke up super early as I had fallen asleep during pottery throwdown so I am just typing this, waiting for my headphones to charge then I will take an hour stroll to complete a super strong February steps wise

  • I keep being told that there are rumours of another fuel crisis but I'm not seeing any signs of it round here thankfully - I do wonder if sometimes that's how these things start though, word of mouth and people reacting rather than checking!  Funnily enough when it all kicked off before, last autumn, we had awful issues getting fuel locally, but once we reached Cornwall no problems at all!

Your short walk on a long pier made me grin too - just so long as it's not the other way round!

Hi EH - I think it was more to do with supply disruption from Eunice and Franklin.  It was pretty fierce down there

So glad you're not having to pay stupid tax. Well done on overturning their penalty and form requirements.

Hi all - just a quick update - busy week at work, but had night out with friends on Thursday and a quick post work drink with colleagues today.  Its all feeling a but back to normal.  Was a little expensive buying a full round (as did everyone else) but very worthit

Will do all my financial updates on Sunday, tonight is going to be sausages and mash and some catch up telly.  Saturday is going to be DIY and a long walk

Sounds like a nice week mate. Have to admit I miss Friday evening drinks a bit with a few of my staff but not worth it for me. Plus side being I've forgotten what a full round costs haha.

I'm having a similarly quiet weekend, have a good one.

just trying to find a new normal - but in some ways I'm missing the peace and quiet of lockdown.  but would never want to go back but some things did resonate and work for me.  one of my colleagues accelerated his retirement as his big fear was missing work place, and he did 12 months of lockdown and didn't come back to the office
